A Special Wish, Chicago is an organization dedicated to granting the wishes of heroic children battling life threatening conditions from birth to age 21. A Special Wish Foundation is determined to make dreams become a reality. With incredible support from local organizations and individuals, we have brought smiles to the faces of hundreds of children and their families | Meet our heroes...

 Greg Age: 20

Greg's wish was to have a 20th birthday Fiesta with all of his family and friends from out of town. A Special Wish was able to rent vans for 30 of his friends from Ohio to attend the party and stay at a hotel for the night. The ‘Fiesta’ was catered by a generous donation from Lalo’s Restaurant. The look on Greg's face when he entered the party was priceless! It was truly an emotional moment. Greg passed away in January 2010. | Wish Granted June, 2009

Wish Granted August, 2009 | A dream quickly became a reality when ASW granted Carlos’s wish to meet his hero, Peyton Manning. The Colts invited Carlos to their training camp for the day to join the team on the side lines for practice, and to meet and hangout with Peyton Manning. Towering at 6’11, Carlos looked so natural standing on the field with the players. With a grand smile, Carlos said ““he could do anything” after meeting Peyton, “The surgeries are no big deal now.”

Carlos Age: 20 | A personal visit is a true morale boost for the child, as well as a memory to hang on to during unsure times ahead

David Age: 2 | David's first wish was to celebrate his 2nd birthday with his friends and family. The room was filled with balloons, streamers and all sorts of Elmo fun. ASW invited a face painter and a life size Elmo to help make this celebration extra special. The family members, especially the children had a blast! Although the child passed not long after his birthday party, the family will forever cherish the memories they shared that day. | Wish Granted April, 2009

Bridget Age: 20 | Stage IV of Hodgkin's Disease did not stop this extraordinary bright spirit from enjoying her wish! ASW sent Bridget and her parents to central Florida to enjoy Disney's Magic Kingdom, Animal Park, Epcot Center, Universal Studios, Sea World and the Holy Land Experience. Bridget is still battling cancer, but maintaining a positive attitude. She credits the support of her family, friends, and God for giving her the strength to continue fighting. | Wish Granted March, 2009

After! | Before... | Wish Granted May, 2010

Justin, diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, wish was for a new big screen TV in his room. ASW met and exceeded his expectations by making over his bedroom with new furniture, a 46 inch flat screen, a new bed, and an array of, his favorite, Laker's theme decor. The room flooded with joy when ASW volunteers revealed to Justin his new get-a-way! | Justin Age: 20 | Pictured above, ASW volunteers with Justin and his Grandpa

Yet again, ASW goes above and beyond when granting a wish. This spunky, outgoing child who suffers from uncontrollable epileptic seizure disorder, wished for a new bedroom set he can share with his brother. ASW was happy to provide the child with a bunk bed, dresser, TV stand, a flat-panel TV and DVD player, in addition to a Nintendo Wii. Eddie could not believe his eyes! In disbelief he continuously asked “is this for me?!” Eddie’s room is now the #1 destination for him and all of his brothers and sisters to hang out. He is grateful that his little brother Raleigh is able to share a room with him. Eddie also received two sets of Transformers sheets, pillows, comforters, blankets, pajamas, a life size Transformers doll to wrestle around with, and two free passes to Six Flags Great America. | Eddie Age: 6 | Yet again, ASW goes above and beyond when granting a wish. 11: “It wasn't so much about the trip. It was about going somewhere and just being able to play. We didn't do much, as far as sight-seeing while we were there, just mainly hung out at the pool and the beachwear a lot and took tons of pictures and video. It was nice to just relax, be silly and laugh. It was great just to BE.” | Wish Granted 2008 | Emily Age: 2 | “It wasn't so much about the trip. 13: Wish Granted December, 2009 | Skye, a heroic young woman diagnosed with alveolar soft part sarcoma, wished for a shopping spree to her favorite store, REI Sporting Goods. Upon arrival, the entire REI staff greeted Skye and her family with signs and smiles. They set up "Camp Skye" with an array of gifts waiting to be unwrapped. The staff raised money to plant 100 trees in Sky’s name. Ted Villaire, author of “50 hikes in 50 miles of Chicago,” came to sign a copy of his book. Not only did he come with a pen, but with a personal invitation for Sky to go hiking with him in the future. | “Thank you so very much for the time and energy you put into making Skye's wish come true. It was a memorable day that will stay in our hearts forever. The white stretch limo on a beautiful snowy day was wonderful, the reception at REI was amazing, and then seeing Skye happy and smiling was something we have not seen in a long time. We are so very grateful to you and Special Wish Foundation. Our Heartfelt thanks to you” -Hope M. and Family- | Skye Age: 19

The family felt that the best wish would be something to remember Orla by as they felt that her prognosis was very poor and time was of the essence. They opted for a very specific portrait technique, creating a painting of a black and white photo using oils on canvas. At the family's request, the photo was taken immediately upon approval of the wish. However, then life took over for the family and they were unable to get with the photographer and artist to select the photo to use for the painting. About two years later, the final portrait was completed and the family was very grateful. | Orla Age: 2 | Wish Granted in 2005

ASW sent Annalies and her family to greet her long time pen pal in Colorado. | Annalies

“Wanted to let you know that Kathy, as well as her sister and I had a GREAT time in Florida. The weather was a little chilly when we first got there but the temps were climbing every day. Anything is better than the snow which is falling as I type this. We can't thank you and the Special Wish Foundation enough for this trip. They treated Kathy like a queen. She enjoyed herself immensely. We went to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Sea World, Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. Again, thank you soooooo very much.” Kathy, Jamie and Mom

“Brian was very weak at the time his special wish was granted. In September of 2008, my husband got Brian to go to the basement and together they made a welding cart for Brandon's welder. On October 31, 2008 Brandon lost his fight with Leukemia and died. I want to thank you for granting my son’s wish.”

Special Thanks | Special Thanks | Thank you tremendously for your continuous support! Your contribution goes a long way toward instilling a sense of happiness and peace for these courageous children. Sincerely, A Special Wish Foundation Chicago Chapter
