3: Mesopotamia lies between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. It is the oldest of the four river valleys. They were polytheistic which means they worshiped more than one god. They spoke in cuneiform. The ziggurat was where they worshiped. They used clay tablets to write on. They used irrigation for farming. They used Hammurabi code the first set of written laws. They used a plow to make farming easier. They had scribes the record keepers.
5: The Nile river runs from south to north in Egypt. They were polytheistic worshiped more than one god. They wrote in hieroglyphics. The leader was called a pharaoh. The pyramids were the Pharaoh's tomb. They mummified the dead which preserved there bodies. They had slaves. Its was surrounded by desert. They were divided into upper and lower classes. They were united it 3000 b.c.

7: The Indus river valley lies between the Ganges and Indus rivers. They built there cities on a grid. Little is known of them because no one understands there language. They had the first sewage and plumbing system. The Hindu religion started here. The Himalayas are to the north. They had strong central government. The major buildings were in the center. Monsoons brought seasonal winds. The rivers flooded and made fertile soil.
9: The yellow(he Huang),Yangtze and Mekong rivers are in china . They worshiped there ancestors. They were protected on the north south and eastern side by natural barriers. They built the great wall of china to protect the west. Family was important you could dishonor your family and get kicked out. The leader was called the Emperor. you could not pick who you marry it is arranged for you. They had wooden buildings. The floods lead to fertile soil called loess. They saw there culture as center of the civilized word.
