2: Mesopotamia | In Mesopotamia, religion controlled the government. Mesopotamians invented the plow to make farming easier. Mesopotamia was between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Mesopotamians were polytheistic, meaning they believed in many Gods The written language of Mesopotamia was Cuneiform. There were four main social classes in Mesopotamia: Priests,, upper class, lower class, and slaves. .
3: In Babylon, the law that was followed was Hammurabi's Code, The city-states within Mesopotamia were always at war. Mesopotamia had limited natural resources. Every year, the two rivers would flood, bringing silt to the land.
4: Egypt | *In Egypt, pharaohs ruled as kings. *Egyptians used papyrus as paper. *The Nile river was Egypt's life source. *Egyptians were polytheistic., but Son God was most important. *Egyptians used hieroglyphs for writing. *Egypt was split into four social classes: Pharaohs, people with special rights, commoners, and slaves. *Egypt was divided into Upper and Lower kingdoms until 3000 B.C. 8egyptians preserved their Pharaohs for the afterlife by mummification. *Nile river flows south to north.
6: China | *China was a feudalistic society; King gave land to Nobles, Nobles gave military service to Kings. *China was located between Huang He and Yangtze Rivers. *Main religion of China was Buddhism. *China had its own written language. * China followed a feudalistic caste system where family is central. *Yearly, the rivers flood and leave behind Loess when they recede,. *Chinese lived and worked in wooden buildings, *Chinese rulers were believed to have Mandate of Heaven. *Himalaya Mtns. were to the south and the Gobi Desert was to the north.
8: Indus river Valley | *Indus river valley had a strong central government. *Indus River Valley had sewage and plumbing systems. *Indus River Valley was located between Indus and Ganges Rivers. *Hinduism began in Indus River Valley. *Indus River Valley had it's own written language. *The social classes of Indus River valley were: Upper class, middle class, lower class. *In the Indus River Valley, all major buildings were in the center of the city. *Yearly monsoons brought rain or dry air to the Indus River Valley. *Indus River Valley planned its cities on a grid system. *The Himalaya Mountains were to the north.
