1: In 1873 a man by the name of Andrew Smith hallidie(left) had an idea for the first ever street car. this idea came to him after he had seen horses die from slipping on the stones and falling back down the steep hill.
2: This is a diagram of a newer model of a street car. These street cars had room for around 60 people to sit or stand.
3: This is an older model street car. this is similar to the one that andrew smith hallidie made in 1873.
4: On September 1 1873 the Clay Street line opened the first public cable car system.
5: ON April 18 1906 California had a massive earthquake which made most of San Franciso's transportation to Cable Cars.
6: This is Fannie Mae Barnes. She became the first lady Grip operator in 1998.
