FC: Francisco Coronado | by: Michelle Paschedag
Francisco was born in 1510, at Salamance,Spain. When he was born he was in the nobility family.Coronado died at the age of 44 on September 22,1554.He discovered things we use today as Coronado.....wine,park,restaurant, ect.
When Coronado was a kid his father died....and his father was very rich so Coronado had no money and he could had starve.Until Mendoza asked Coronado to go exploring with him to America. Francisco had nothing to do and maybe they could have found gold to help him and he said yes. It was in 1535 when he went to America.
Coronado loved exploring so much that he decided to explore him-self. He uncovered lots of land, and found some gold on the way. Though he struggled and he almost completed his biggest quest.
When Coronado was on his way he did have problems on the ships like.....colds,fevers,flu's,germs(also know as diseases). Some of Coronado's crew were too sick that they died.In between were some small and major battles when they stopped at places that were close to them.
Francisco Coronado traveled to Mexico,New Mexico,Tiguex, Cilbola,Texas, Nevada,Arizona, Kansas,Hawikuh, and Oklahoma. He did all of this in his journey.
Francisco got married and had eight children. The wife was a wealthy daughter of colonial treasurer. A couple years later Francisco became a governor. He later on then heard a myth about if you find the seven gold cities it has more gold than the Incas, so he went to explore.
Coronado's expedition was a failure, because he promised to retrieve gold from the seven gold cities, but he had not. Even Coronado knew he was a failure him too was disappointed in him-self. This was the end, but i know a couple of facts before I'm done... 1.He fell off of his horse and got kicked in the head but he still survived, and 2. He had a peace treaty with some of the Native Americans.
