BC: Thank you for taking the time to look at our book. We would love to answer any questions that you might have. ~~-Prayers, Dan & Lisa
FC: The Sweet Story of Dan & Lisa | "If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you." ~ Winnie the Pooh
Dear Birthmother, Today you are in our prayers. We promise to love and care for your child for all of our days. Each day and night they will wake and sleep knowing how loved they are. Your strength and devotion to their happiness will live on through our hearts. The hope of a child has been a life long dream for each of us and we long to build our family through adoption. Dan grew up the second of four children in the Dallas area. He and his identical twin are exceptionally close while he maintains tight relations with his entire family. Lisa is the youngest of three girls and has always dreamed of the day she too would get to be a mommy. She has spent the last two decades practicing on five nieces! Together we live with our two dogs and two cats in a central Texas college town with plenty of museums, theaters and family friendly fun. Thank you for taking the time to look at our book and we hope you can get to know us a little better! Dan & Lisa
Our story: Dan and Lisa married July 14th, 2007 surrounded by family and friends. | Faith in the Lord is a very strong component of our marriage. We regularly attend worship as a family and look forward to raising a child in the church, attending Sunday school and youth programs Mom and Dad can't wait to be proud grandparents standing before the church on baptism day.
Dan about Lisa: Lisa is the most remarkable woman. She is smart, kind, beautiful, loving, and brings joy to my life in a way no one ever has. She is going to he the most wonderful mother, too. She seems to have the golden touch with our nieces and nephews and her closet of toys and games never ceases to bring smiles during family visits. | Lisa about Dan: Dan is the silliest, most kind hearted man that I have ever known. He is already an amazing husband but watching him with our nieces and nephews tells me that he is going to be an amazing father. He is a triathlete so he loves being outside. Someday I look forward to cheering him on from the sidelines of his next Ironman competition with a little one cheering for daddy.
With trips to Colorado a little one will get to explore one of our nations' most beautiful states annually. Visiting Dan's brother and his family is a semi-annual event as we try to make two trips a year. We especially like to celebrate our anniversary in the mountains of Colorado. | ANNIVERSARY
Our home is full of hugs and your child will grow up knowing parents that hold hands, hug and snuggle all the time. We can't wait to have a little bundle to hug and snuggle with us.
Early in the dating, I learned to camp to try out one of Lisa's favorite past times. Now camping and hiking has become a regular family event to include siblings and soon-to-be grandparents.
Camping in the Texas Hill Country with future cousins. Reese and AJ get in on the action and love it when Eli comes to visit our campsite. | Even cooking breakfast is more fun when we are camping. When we go camping we take the boys on hikes and for swims in the lake. We can't wait to have a little one to carry on those beautiful hikes.
Family For us, spending time with family is the greatest gift. Whether it is a holiday visit, playtime while babysitting, family vacation or just hanging out on the weekend, we cherish the little ones in our world. They can't wait for a new little one to cuddle. Between Lisa's five nieces, Dan's four nephews and two nieces, there will always be friends to play with. Although separated by distance, getting together with family is a priority. Dan's sister, and her family are in the process of expanding their own family through the miracle of adoption.
We love spending silly time with our family. Having a chance to goof off and relax together is priceless. Even the dogs love catching up with each other.
We love to visit our Godsons in Colorado.
As a big sister, I've watched Lisa grow into a woman ready to raise a family. She has found such joy with Dan. I know they will be fantastic parents. ~- M | We look forward to sharing new experiences with a little one. Spending the day exploring the botanical gardens with M's girls reminded us of what it is to see the world with childlike wonder.
W's girls are teenagers now and keep asking when we are going to start a family so they can babysit! Through scouting and family camping they've always had an appreciation for the great outdoors. | Having family in Upstate New York has its advantages
Making cookies and memories have always been apart of our family gatherings. Dan loves to ride his bike so he can enjoy all of the cooking that goes on.
Education is very important to us. We both have advanced degrees but believe that a child needs to be the one deciding their long-term dreams. We hope that higher education is something that will interest a little one but know that as parents we will support the dreams of the individual, not necessarily our own dreams for a child..
Words from the cats: Hello. We are Abby and Silas and we've been Lisa's cats for ten years. We've known Dan and those slobbering dogs for four years now and we've grown very fond of Dan. He makes Lisa very happy so that makes us happy. We'd like to let you know that while we aren't super fond of little kids squealing and chasing after us, we really don't mind it much when they get close and scratch us. Those little hands are particularly good at scratching behind the ears. So, what we're trying to say is that we'd really like a baby that we can teach from the beginning to pet nicely. ~ Meow, Abby & SIlas.
A note from the boys.: Hi, we're Reese and AJ. We've known Dan for as long as we can remember. He brought Lisa home back in April of 2006 so we know her pretty doggone good now. In fact we love her so much we tolerate her cats. She has two of them. We've gotten pretty used to little kids being around. but we'd like one of our own that doesn't smell like other people's dogs. We promise to love, lick and snuggle a little one and protect them. Love, AJ & Reese.
Dan and Lisa love birthdays. Lisa has been taking notes at our nieces and nephews' birthday parties so she is ready to host celebrations for a little one.
With gluten sensitivities, peanut & soy allergies and diabetes in our extended family we've learned to make make meals that are fantastic and still meet the health needs of our friends and families. We even know how to make a wheatless, sugar-free, soy free chocolate cake. And it even tastes good.
COLORADO Hay rides, marshmallow roasting and horseback riding. Just a few things to look forward to on family vacation.
I have a twin brother and twin nephews who are also my Godsons. I can't begin to describe what it means to have a twin... the bond that it brings is unbreakable. Lisa and I would love to have multiples to carry on the family tradition. | TWINS
My students are everything to me and I've come to be known as that 'crazy Kinder teacher' that dresses up for all of our special events. I'll miss teaching while being a stay at home mom but am very excited to make that change. | Star-Bellied Sneetch for Dr. Seuss day and wearing 99 black ants with 1 red ant for the 100th day of school.
For Dan, getting out on the bike is a necessity. He loves the rush of the wind, the strength in his body and the feeling of accomplishment. He is a two time Ironman Triathlete and looks forward to continuing for years to come. | Lisa loves to watch Dan ride.. While cycling doesn't lend itself to be much of a spectator sport, Lisa has gotten very good at planning side activities to keep busy. A little one one would get to explore, create, and play while waiting for the next exciting time he zooms by on his bike.
Thank you for taking the time to look at our book.. If nothing else you've learned that we are a quirky couple that loves to be together and loves to spend time with family. I think it is pretty special that Dan's family is so very close and that they have drawn me into their little loving circle. For me it means the world to me that Lisa's family has taken to me so strongly. Her parents are always around to help out and they can't wait till we have a little one so they can dote on a local grandchild. Even more than that it is so nice knowing how well Lisa gets along with my family. Holiday celebrations and family vacations together are so full of fun and activity and just love. I love to watch her with my nephews, I know she is going to be an excellent mom. We'd love to hear more about you and we'd love to answer any questions or talk about anything that we may have left out from our book. It is amazing how much and how little can be squeezed into 25 pages of a photo album! Because I'm such a Pooh fan I have to include: Piglet; Pooh, how do you spell Love?" Pooh: You don't. You feel it. I know that when you find us you'll feel it. We'll feel it too. Blessings ~ Dan & Lisa
