2: The author of The Pearl is John Steinbeck. John was born in February 27, 1902 and he died in December 20 1968. | John Steinbeck was born in Salinas California. John Steinbeck also wrote many books. Some books that he wrote were Of Mice of Men, Gapes of Wrath, East of Eden, The Winter of Our Discontent, and so much more.
3: John also received some awards for his novels during his time of living. Some of the awards were The Nobel Prize in Literature and Pulitzer Prize in 1940.
4: The setting of the Pearl is in La Paz, Mexico. SOme of the characters in The Pearl lived is the nice parts in La Paz.
5: While some characters liven in the wealthy parts of La Paz, in The Pearl, here were some people that lived in poor pats of La Paz.
6: Kino Kino is a Native Mexican Indian that does not live in the wealthy part of La Paz. HE also the father of Coyotito and husband of Juana.
7: Juana Juana is also a main character in The Pearl.. She is the mother of Coyotito. She is also the wife of Kino.
8: Coyotito Coyotito is the son of Juana and Kino. He is the child that got stung by the scorpion.
9: The Doctor The doctor is the man that denied Kino, Juana, and Coyotito medical attention when Coyotito got stung. He is also obs one of the characters that lives in the wealthy parts of La Paz.
10: Chapter 1 Summary In chapter one the characters are introduced. We meet Kino, Juana, and Coyotito. As the family wakes up one morning, Kino wakes up singing. Then Juana wakes up and checks on Coyotito and starts cooking. As Kino is eating breakfast, he and Juana notice a scorpion on Coyotito's hanging box. The scorpion stings Coyotito. Kino kills the scorpion and Juana sucks out the poison. Kino, Juana, and Coyotito go to the city to see the doctor for help, and the doctor does not help them. | Chapter 2 Summary Kino and Juana went out to into the ocean in their canoe to look for a pearl. Kino catches a lot of oysters and throws them into a bucket. Kino thought he saw a pearl in a giant oyster, and gets the oyster and throws is into the boat. Then Kino finds a giant pearl.
11: Chapter 3 When Kino found the peal, everyone started to find out about it. When the doctor found out, he and his servant told Kino that the poison from the sting could still harm Coyotito. The doctor gave Coyotito some medicine and said he would come back. | Chapter 4 Kino and Juana get ready to sell the pearl. Juan Tomas goes with them to the city to sell the pearl. The pearl buyers tell Kino that his pearl is not real, but will offer !5.00 pesos for it.
12: Chapter 5 Kino and Juana wake up early to go to the capital . When they were going to the canoe Kino was attacked. Kino killed a man. Juana went to get Coyotito out of the burning brush house. Kino, Juana, and Coyotito go to Juan Tomas house to stay the rest of the night. | Chapter 6 Early in the morning they went into hiding . The people heard Coyotito cry. Then the trackers shot Coyotito in the head..
13: The moral of The Pearl is that everything that looks good for you isn't always good for you, and you can't trust your eyes.
