26: Madhu Rye | One of the greatest Gujarati writers of our time, Madhu Rye has lived in the United States since 1974. He started writing at an early age- and his short stories became a fad in India in the late 1960s. In 1967, he completed his first full-length play, ‘Koipan Ek Phulnu-nu Naam Bolo. He was awarded the coveted Ranjitram for his lifetime achievement in 2000. He bagged the Bhupen Khakhar playwriting award for his play ‘Sura ane Shatrujit’ in 2004.
