2: scientists | Scientists:) | Theodor Shwann co-created the cell theory. He stated that all plants have cells. Matthias Shleiden also co-created the cell theory stating that all living thing are from from cells. Rudolph Virchow perfected the cell theory by stating that all cells are created from old cells. Robert Hooke saw cells for the first time by observing the cells of a cork through a microscope.
3: Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic Eukaryotic cells are membrane bound organisms that contain complex organelle structures. The defining characteristic of a Eukaryotic cell is it's Nucleus. It's a eukaryotes brain that stores genetic info. Animal, plant, and fungi are all types of Eukaryotes. Prokaryotes completely lack a nucleus and any membrane bound organelles. 4: Plant cells vs. Animal cells | Plant and animal cells are very similar. One difference they have is that a plant cell is more rectangular rather than circular as the animal cell is. It also has a cell wall for extra protection of the organelles while animal cells simply have a cell membrane. Plant cells also have chloroplast which is what makes the plant green and allows it to go through photosynthesis. Plant cells basically have the organelles animal cells have plus chloroplasts and a cell wall. | vs
5: Cell Membrane The cell membrane is the entire frame for the cell and acts as a protective shield. It splits the inside and outside of the cell so that the chemical environments can function separately. The membrane controls those environments so that the machinery within the cytoplasm functions properly. | YOU SHALL NOT PASS
6: Ten cell structures:) | nucleus: is most evident within the cell and contains DNA nucleolus: creates ribosomes cytoplasm: is the plural of cytosol which are full of proteins that control metabolism golgi apparatus: cell membrane bound structure with a single membrane. They package macromolecules to transport within the cell lysosomes: (mostly found in animal cells) work to contain hyrdoitic enzymes necessary for intracellular digestion chloroplast:(specific to plant cells) contains chlorophyll which is responsible for the plants green color and production of photosynthesis cell wall:(specific to plants) protective wall made up of polysacharides which provide strength and protection to the cell mitochondria: provides energy to the cell(powerhouse) and has a double membrane
7: ribosomes: packets of RNA that are critical to protein synthesis. smooth E.R.: has different structures depending on the cell type. some of the things it does is lipid and steroid hormone synthesis, break down lipid soluble toxins in the liver cells and control calcium released in muscle cells.
8: Homeostasis is the tendency of a system, especially the physiological system of higher animal, to maintain internal stability, owing to the coordinate responses of it's parts to any situation or stimulus that would tend to disturb it's normal condition or function. | Homeostasis
