FC: Athens to Dubai November 2011 Oceania Nautica
1: We left Medford on Thursday, Nov. 3, flying first to Seattle and then to Amsterdam. | This is what we saw as we flew into Amsterdam.
2: Limassol, Cyprus Sunday, Nov. 6 Cyprus is divided between the Greeks and Turkish.
4: These pictures are taken in Omodos, an village in the mountains. We also visited Kourion, where we saw ancient baths, mosaic tile floors, and temple ruins.
5: Haifa, Israel Monday, Nov. 7 We were docked here for 3 days. | These pictures were taken from Mt Carmel. On Monday we visited the area around the Sea of Galilee and Nazareth.
7: This is Tabgha, the place where the Savior performed the miracle of the loaves and fishes.
8: Capernaum, this is considered the home of the ministry of the Savior. This is where His first apostles lived.
9: We had lunch at a Kibbutz on the Sea of Galilee. They served whole tilapia with their heads still on. This is the place in the River Jordan where the Savior was baptized by John the Baptist.
10: Looking east towards the Sea of Galilee.
11: In Nazareth we viewed the Church of Joseph, which is where Joseph's shop is supposed to be. We also saw the Basilica of the Annunciation, where the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary.
13: Jerusalem Tuesday, Nov. 8 This is a view above the city looking towards the Dome of the Rock from the Mount of Olives.
14: We walked the path of the Savior within the walls of the old city. Included in our walk was the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Wailing Wall.
18: Cruising the Suez Canal Thursday, Nov. 10 To the east of the canal is the desert of the Sinai penisula lined with military posts. And on the west is Egypt.
19: Luxor (Safaga) Egypt Friday, Nov.11 We sailed into Safaga and drove across the desert into Lexur, through the Nile valley.
20: We had lunch along the Nile River.
21: After we went to the Valley of the Kings we stopped at Hatshepsut, a mortuary temple complex. And then to the Colossi of Memnon.
22: The Luxor Temple was built over 3500 years old. A Mosque was build on top of the buried temple. We walked along the Ave of the Spinx.
25: This is at the pier at Safaga. Faithful Muslims are returning with their pilgrimage to Mecca.
26: Aqaba Jordan Sunday, Nov. 13 We drove from Jordan to the mountains above Petra. Once there we walked through the Sig until we got to the ancient city, El Khazneh, the Treasury.
28: The Wadi Rum is sheer granite, sandstone cliffs & mountains rising out of the sand. We rode in the back of 4X4 pickups through the desert to a Bedouin Camp for dinner.
30: Cruising the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden Nov. 14 - 17 We were watched over by military helicopters, ships, and hundreds of porpoises.
31: Salalah, Oman Friday, Nov. 18 As we started our tour we stopped at a fruit stand for fresh coconut milk. Then on to the Grand Mosque just as the prayer service was getting out. We then went to the Al Baldi archaeological museum where we saw frankincense trees.
32: We shopped at the Al Husn Souq and walked along the shore of the Arbian Sea. This is thought to be the place were Lehi's family left to sail to the promises land.
34: Muscat, Oman Sunday, Nov. 21 The Grand Mosque, is the largest in Oman. There is a smaller building for the women to worship. Also a place to wash before entering the Mosque

36: Dubai Monday, Nov. 21 It was a fast tour to see the Al Fahida Fort, walk along Dubai creek, visit the Gold and spice Souks, stop at the Burj Al Arab, and drive along the city's skyline.
