FC: STILL SHOTS
This is a screen shot from my video. I really like this shot because it represents the setting, mood, weather and artist style. The shot doesn't challenge conventions in the sense that it is a mid shot and in clear quality in a genre specific setting, however you could challenge conventions in the way in which the female is presented. The shot is very laid back in comparison to popular music videos where women are often dominating the shot and put in revealing outfits or unusual settings. The shot shows a natural setting.
This screen shot does not challenge conventional ideas in media products, in fact it is a shot inspired by other popular music videos. The artist sitting on a car during a music video has been around for a long time and i have placed my artist in the center of the shot so she is the main focus. Below are some examples of similar shots i was inspired from...
I decided to do a shot with the artist surrounded by flowers because it really fitted into the genre of music and style. The fluffy white flowers created a good shot with her dancing between them. Like the previous shot, it is another convention used in many music videos as in similar genre styles this type of shot is used. I think the lighting effect works well and the colours of her shirt tie into the colours of the flower so the shot works out effectively.
This shot is at the climax of the song. She is walking through a field to the music while the lyrics state that she is walking. This is a very typical convention of a real music video as lyrics and visuals should link to make sense of the narrative. I think i grasped this convention and used it throughout the video.
The is the shot within the music video that i used for the front of the album cover. It is typically important that there are close ups of the artist throughout a video and on other media products too such as adverts. I placed the artist in a perfect position to the camera so that the sun ray shines horizontally down her face. This represents my genre and style as it is a natural shot.
This image challenges the typical conventions. Not many videos use a split screen so i thought it would be original to use one as it fits well into the video and makes it fun.
This is a typical shot to represent a genre. It shows the artist with her back to the wall talking on the phone. This represents the audience for the video as it is for teenagers and young adults. This is a typical teenage pose while talking on the phone to a boy for example so people can relate to this shot.
This screen shot shows what the video is primarily about- "diggin'" on a boy. The shot shows the bond between the two people which is typical in a music video as if there is a relationship between two people, the mood is represented through emotion. They are both smiling and hugging which shows a good relationship.
I use shots like this at various points as it shows the artist singing in natural location. I use a slight low angle shot giving the artist power over the audience so people look up to her. This is another typical conventional shot.
