Johnathan Your parents and us Aunts and Uncles want you to know that we have a testimony that you can rely on during hard times
My Dearest Children, It is a privlidge for me to write my testimony; so that you will have a record of my thoughts and feelings about the gospel of Jesus Christ and what it means to me in my life. When I was younger, I followed the teachings of my parents. I was taught to be good, to choose the right, to listen to the Holy Ghost, be honest, and love my family and my Heavenly Father. I was taught by my good parents, the great stories from the scriptures about courageous prophets like Nephi, Lehi, King Benjamin, Samuel the Lamenite, Captain Moroni, and Mormon. I was also taught of the restoration of the priesthood of God to this earth, by an incredible young man, who prayed one day that he would know what church to join, and what manner of man he should be. His name was Joseph Smith. The things I learned at that time were important, and the stories I memorized taught me many important principles of the gospel. I learned to love church, primary, young women's, and later Relief Society. I learned, however, a most important lesson when I was 18 years old and going to college at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher. Yes, this is where I met your dad :) It was a special time of life for me, with wonderful lessons in store. For the first time in my life, I found that I had complete control over my thoughts and actions. Should I choose to follow the teachings of my childhood?, or should I choose a different path, just to see where it would go. I am happy to say that even though I suffered through some trials, I did find my way "home", and back to the teachings I have held so dear to my heart, for so many years! I met your dad, and because we had both kept faithful to our testimonies, we were able to be married for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona Temple, on October 10, 1997. I cannot even comprehend what my life would be like without the blessings of the gospel. As each one of you have joined our family, I knew that I had the privilege of having you forever, because of the sealing ordinances of the priesthood. When Brycen passed away, I cried and still cry because I miss his earthly association SO very much, but I need you to know that so many of the tears I cry are tears of joy and thanksgiving, because I know I can have him back forever! He is an eternal part of our family, just as each one of you are--Aren't we so blessed!!! Our Heavenly Father loves us so much! He had to loose His son for a little while too, and I'm sure it was hard for Him...but He knew that Christ must suffer and atone for us in order for the Great Plan of Salvation to be complete. Because Jesus Christ lived, died, and lived again, so will we die and live again forever! What a great man and prophet we have in Joseph Smith. He had a hard, hard life. He lost many children, was tarred and feathered, and beaten many times for the things he believed. He knew we needed to know the truth, so he endured all of his trials with patience and long suffering; always relying on the arm of the Lord for comfort and guidance. We need to learn to do the same! I believe in Joseph Smith! I believe he restored the great Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth, so we could have the blessings of Heaven! If we learn from all the great prophets in the scriptures, we will be ready for the Savior to come again! Then we will see Brycee again, and it will be the funnest family reunion ever! I love you all so very much! I am so blessed to have you as my children! Love Always, Mom :)
Dear Burrell Bunch Kids Hi kids I just wanted to let you know how much I love you and am so grateful to be your father. You are all so wonderful. Mom and I have been blessed to be your parents. Every day you bring us so much joy and happiness. I want you all to know that I know that our Savior Jesus Christ lives. Because of his sacrifice and atonement we can be together forever. I want us to be all together with Brycen more than anything else. I know that because mom and I were sealed in the temple that we can and will be together forever. I know that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that he restored the church. I am grateful for the Book of Mormon. I know that it is true. I am grateful to all the prophets that sacrificed so much to write the Book of Mormon. I know that President Monson is a true and living Prophet today. I want you all to know that you are all so special. Mom and I both love you so much. We want the best for you all. Love Dad
I believe my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ really began many years before my introduction to his Restored Gospel at age 19. It began when I learned in my home to be polite to others, to say “please” and “thank you”, to share and to care about others and to love my family. Through the years after my baptism by my loving husband, Eldon, on 7 September 1947, many people have helped me to learn and my testimony to grow and grow. I am very grateful now to be able to say, “I believe with all my heart that I had a home with Heavenly Parents before I came to earth. I believe that if I strive with all my might I will be able to return and live with them again along with all my own earthly family.. I know that my Elder Brother, Jesus, is the Christ and that He died to save me from my sins along with the rest of the world. I know with all my heart that my family can become a Celestial Family if they will only strive to understand the Gospel and themselves and learn that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers and He will always be there for us but we have to ASK Him. I know that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God as are all the presidents of the Church. They have always been there to help us and we must do our part. I do not believe I have ever questioned the authority that was over me in the Church. I would feel very wrong in doing this. I feel very strongly that everything I have in this life and everything I have ever been able to accomplish I owe to my Heavenly Father. I have tried to find out how He would like me to live and, although I have not accomplished it yet, I strive to live in the way He would like me to. . I pray I have helped my family to learn to search for the truth in all things and that we will all learn to understand, appreciate and love one another and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” Grandma Shirley Edmonson Barney 16 Oct 2011
In the short 50+ years of my life, I have seen and heard many things many things that might have shaken my testimony. But because of other more powerful things that have taken place not only in my personal life but also in those who are close to me, my testimony grow. We as a family have seen miracles happen and I'm sure there are many more that we don't even know about. The 2 that stick out in my mind. One involves Cathy and how her life was saved thru circumstances that took place way beyond our control. There is no doubt in my mind and heart that the Lord was watching over her. I know that my prayers were answered in her behalf. I felt and saw the Hand of the Lord work in her recovery. The other one is the trial that we each went thru with Johathan's and Alicia's family. The returning of Brycen to our Heavenly Father. there are times when I feel like I can feel him near me and telling me he's here, that everything is and will be okay. The out pouring of love from both sides and especially from our Heavenly Father. It is a hard thing but think how hard it would have been without the knowledge of the Gospel. When Johathan and Alicia came back from the Temple, I could instantly see and feel a calm and resolute look on the faces. Even though they still hurt, I could tell that Heavenly Father was giving them support, for he knew how they felt. There are other testimony building times that I have witnessed thru and from each of you. It is these things that bear witness to me that Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father knows us individually. They want whats best for us. I know they love me despite my many failures. I have felt Their love for me many times. I know the church is true, that the Book of Mormon is true. Several times I have felt it's power over evil as have you. I enjoy reading it but have a hard time staying awake when I do it gets me so relacked. I want each of you to know of my testimony. I love the Lord. I don't always show it and only hope He will forgive me. I love each of you, firstly your mother, Grandma to most of you, clear to the youngest amoung you. Always listen to the prophet. This my testimony in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. Amen! Grandpa Burrell To All my Children and Grandchildren This is a wonderful but daunting task to bare my testimony to you all. I have not always found it easy to tell what is truly in my heart but I pray the spirit will be with me this day as I bare witness.. I know that we have a Father and Mother in Heaven who love us very much. They have planned this earth for us that we may progress and have a body and become like them some day. I know that Christ lived and does live now. That he made the greatest sacrifice of all to die for us that we may live with our Heavenly Parents again. As we do our part by living the gospel to the best of our ability we come closer to him each day. I know that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are truly counsel from them to us that we may stay close to the teachings that will bring us back to them. Read them often and learn from them. The Conferences and Ensign, The New Era and The Friend are also scriptures for our day. Read them. Study them, learn from them. Attend your church meetings, and grow from the council given there.I know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of the Latter Days. He is as important as Adam, Noah, Elijah, Lehi and Nephi, and so is our prophet today even President Monson. Listen to their council. We are so blessed to have a prophet to hear and be led by. Listen to your parents, learn from them and also teach them how to live the gospel as they should. We want to be together as a family in the presence of God and our Heavenly Mother someday, but that will only happen if we WORK together and be there as a family. Help each other to know the truthfulness of the gospel.
Love each other enough to give council and guidance but be there for each other, accept each other at whatever stage they are in their eternal progression and love each other UNCONDITIONALLY. Forgive and forget each other’s shortcomings and know that the Lord will then help us in our own shortcomings. I know that the temple is a holy place. There is peace and comfort there. Please attend often there is much work to be done and nothing on this earth that you can do for others can bless you so much in return. Know that Grandpa and I Love each of you VERY much and want us all to be together forever so let’s help each other know the truth of all things and make it our goal to join Brycen and be with our Heavenly Parents in the highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom. I’m determined to be there, how about you? Love Grandma Burrell
Since i was in primary I've always known that the church is true. I have visited other churches just as Joseph Smith did. Many when i was about 14. The other churches were nice, and the people were very friendly. They spoke of Jesus and the Bible stories but they seemed to lack something. This church has that something the Holy Ghost. I have prayed and studied and pondered about churches, truth, Jesus, the Holy Ghost and my relationship with it all. Every time, without fail, the spirit confirms that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live, that Jesus is my personal Savior, that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God and belong together and that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet in these the last days. The churches I mentioned at the beginning generally do not understand who or what the Holy Ghost is. Learn for yourself who he is and what he does. John 14:16-17, John 15:26, John 16:13 This is the only church with all the truth. The people around you may make mistakes, but don't let the actions of others change your testimony. Have your own testimony, be worthy and willing to serve, and God will always bless you. Uncle Dan Always remember we love you!!! I do want to let you know that you are special! The Lord lives and loves you very much. I have felt his guiding influence so many times throughout my life, and so can you if you take the time to listen. Your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ want you to be happy and succeed in your life. Always stay close to them. Listen to the words of the Prophets. They speak the words of Christ. They will never lead you astray. You will need a guiding influence in your life that you know will always lead you in the right way. You can always look to them for that direction. The Book of Mormon was written by prophets of old and translated by the Prophet Joseph Smith. I promise you that if you read it daily your life will be blessed. You will still have bad days in life, but knowing you can turn to the scriptures for answers to problems, questions, & direction that will give you such peace and comfort through out your life. It truly does contain the word of God, and you can know for yourself that it is true. I challenge you to find out for yourself. Enjoy life but be good. You have a divine purpose in this life, and don't ever let anyone lead you away from that. Stay strong, choose good friends and music, etc. Again, remember you will always be loved. We have a long line of amazing people through out the family...look to their examples and wisdom to help you through hardships and trials. Remember, "with God, NOTHING is impossible". Aunt Christina
I know the church is true, I know the scriptures are true. I know that Joseph Smith was called by God to restore the only true church on the earth today. I know that President Monson was also called by God to be our prophet today. I know that Jesus atoned for our sins so we could live with our Heavenly Father again. I know families are the main priority in Heavenly Father's plan and I am thankful for my family. I am glad I am able to be sealed for eternity in the temple. Aunt Cynthia I know that this church is true; I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today. I know that Joseph Smith gave his life for the gospel to be restored upon the earth. I know that the scriptures are true and that we can find the answers to any problem we may have by studying the scriptures. I know Jesus died on the cross for my sins and for all of us so we can live with our father again. Uncle Randy
I have a testimony of many things but the two things that have helped me the most are my testimony of Prayer and the Atonement. Prayer has become a most important part in my life. The comfort I receive from a simple prayer about anything I need is so special. It doesn't matter if its small or big, my Heavenly Father hears me, and knows me and what I need. Answers to prayers don't always come in the way you think or the way you want. Sometimes he waits for us to find the answer through others or through scriptures, or even a talk or a comment from others. I sometimes just have needed to be reminded of things I already knew. My testimony of the Atonement has truly been strengthened as I gotten older and needed it more often, though many times not in the sense I have usually thought of the Atonement. I have come to know another side that I never thought of or maybe thought I needed or existed. What I have found is that Atonement is not just for having my own sins forgiven me, which is what most people think of when they think of it, but it is also there to help me be healed from others wrong doings towards me. The hurt confusion the pain that others can cause, is also covered under the Atonement. You can be healed from that pain just as you can be healed from sin. It is just one more way our Heavenly Father and Jesus has shown their love for me. One more way they have made it possible to fully love and forgive and be whole again. This testimony I give to you to strengthen and help as your own testimony grows. Never be afraid to let your testimony be tried, through trial it is strengthened and made firm and strong. Love, Aunt Crystal Stapley
I know that the church is true. I know and am very grateful that Joseph Smith restored the Gospel! I love my Savior and am grateful that he died for my sins so I can live with my family forever. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that President Monson is the true Prophet. He is a wonderful man. I love my Savior and strive to be more like him every day. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen. Justin Burrell I know that this is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith restored and died for the work of the church. I know that Jesus dies for our sins and that through the atonement we can repent of our sins and have eternal life. I know that Heavenly Father answers our prayers for mine have been answered so many times! I know that the Holy Ghost is the comforter and he has comforted, guided and protected me more times than I can remember and even during times I did not ask or knew I needed it. I know that the temple is a very special place and that because I was married and sealed there that my family is forever. I know that this Gospel is happiness and that I will never depart from it. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus love me and I love them! I know that I am happy to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Aunt Sheree
I just want you to know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Heavenly Father church on the earth. If you follow all that it teaches, read your scriptures daily, pray and apply all that you learn you will be happy and find your way back to live with our Heavenly Father forever. I know Jesus Christ is our older brother and he gave us the opportunity to receive so many blessings most importantly the Atonement. Repentance is the only way to become clean after we sin or make mistakes and the opportunity will always be there as long as you want to try to do what is right. I love you and want you to be happy in all that you do and Christ is the best person to rely on to receive that happiness. Aunt Cherilyn I am a child of God. He is our Heavenly Father and loves each and every one of us. His love is unconditional. He desires to speak with us. He does not have an answering machine, call waiting, or voice mail. He is the one and only person that will never forsake us, but rather there are times in our lives that we forsake Him. The greatest gift that He has ever given us is His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is our brother, friend, and advocate with our Father. If we will but continue to strive to follow His perfect example, joy will forever be present in this life and the life to come. The greatest desire of my heart is that all may come to know of the Savior’s love, compassion, desire to take away our pains and sicknesses, ability to cleanse us from our sins and that he not only set out to accomplish the will of the Father but that He actually did it. May we pray for the strength to follow His example, overcome temptations, and be an example to others. That we may truly come to realize that those that are around us really are our Brother and Sisters. That we may open our eyes, our ears, and our hearts so others may see the Savior’s countenance in us. May we show our faith with our feet and remember the most plain and precious principles of the gospel. That those primary answers and songs may forever resonate in our hearts so that we may remember to pray, read ours scriptures, come to church, and be thankful, or as our wonderful Mother always said, “to count our many blessing.” “One by one,” that is the way that we have to move forward in this life. May we find the joy in the moment, during the journey and not the end, and be able to always keep everything in perspective. A wise man once shared with me that he calculated it all out. That from the beginning of time, the time we are here on this earth, and the time after this life that we only have approximately 30 minutes here on this earth. What are we going to do with those 30 minutes? Our Heavenly Father and His Holy Son not only loved us, but love us still. They not only lived, but still live. May we reflect often on the sacred covenants we have made so that we can live with them and our wonderful families for time and all eternity. Our Heavenly Father enabled those childhood promises to become a reality, “I will love you infinity times infinity, no take backs.” As a child I defined love being when one is willing to give anything, at anytime, no matter what. It was only recently that I realized how true that definition really is. The most difficult part is “no matter what”. It was never said that it would be easy, but that it would be worth it. May we remember as Luke stated in Luke 1:37 “For with God all things are possible.” I testify that those sacred words are true. May we always have a sincere desire to be with Him and do everything that is necessary to have His Holy Spirit around us to comfort and guide us is my prayer, in the sacred name of Our Savior and Redeemer, even Jesus Christ, Amen. Uncle Richard
I always appreciate the opportunity to bare my testimony about the church and the atonement. I know that our Heavenly Father love us very much. Because He loves us He has given us the Plan of Salvation so that we may come down to earth gain a body, make mistakes, learn from our mistakes and eventually return with our families to be like Him. I know that Jesus is our Savior. I know, "that with power, the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was, and is from all eternity to all eternity, (came) down from heaven among the children of men, and (dwelt) in a tabernacle of clay, and (went) forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and curing all manner of diseases. (He) cast out devils, or the evil spirits which dwell in the hearts of the children of men. (He suffered) temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people. (He is) called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning;... And lo, he (came) unto his own, that salvation might come unto the children of men even through faith on his name; and even after all this they shall consider him a man, and say that he hath a devil, and shall scourge him, and shall crucify him. And he (rose) the third day from the dead; and behold, he standeth to judge the world; and behold, all these things are done that a righteous judgment might come upon the children of men. For behold, and also his blood atoneth for the sins of those who have fallen by (transgression)." Mosiah 3:5-11I know that Joseph Smith did in fact have a question about the salvation of his soul and of all men. He did go to that small grove of trees and asked which church he was to join. God and his Son Jesus did fact appear to him and told him that he was to join no church and that through him the true and everlasting gospel was to be restored to the earth. The Book of Mormon is evidence that we can read, hold and then pray about to know if these things are true. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet today that leads Gods Church today. I know that if we live the gospel we will be able to return to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ's presence with our families. The church is so wonderfully true. Uncle Joseph My testimony is simple but sure. I love this gospel and the knowledge it provides me with! I know that my Heavenly Father and Savior live and that they love me. Heavenly Father loves me so much to have sent His Son to die for me and allow Jesus Christ to become my Savior. Jesus Christ loves me so much that He was willing to come down and fulfill the Atonement. I know that He would have gone through all that pain again if I were the only person to save. He loves us all so much and wants us to return home with Him and our Father in Heaven. They love us all so very much! I know that the Atonement was done to help us all return home. How beautiful it is to be able to repent and be forgiven of our sins! The Savior came to redeem the world and it is our choice to use it and apply it. We came here to gain a physical body and gain knowledge and experience. Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us in His great Plan of Happiness.
We are all His children and He wants us home but He also wants us to make our own decisions and learn from our choices. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that it is here to help teach us His Plan and about the Savior. I know that is was translated by the power of God and that Joseph Smith is an instrument in God's hands. Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God and saw our Savior and Heavenly Father in a vision. He was directed by God and restored the true and everlasting gospel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that families are forever! I love my family so much and how great it is to be able to be with them forever through the sealing power of God! The temples are Heavenly Father's home here on earth and are here to teach us and seal us together forever as families. I have learned that trusting in my Heavenly Father and His plan for me has helped me grow spiritually. I may not always do as I should but I know that He has a plan for me and will help me do better. That is a beautiful part of the gospel that allows me to repent and change. God loves us all! If you don't remember anything from this testimony, just remember this- Your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love you and will do anything to help you come home- Trust Them! Aunt Heather
I know that the Church is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, that he really did talk with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that he really was led to the Golden Plates which he translated into the Book of Mormon. I also know that the Book of Mormon is true and is another testament of Jesus Christ. And most importantly, I know that Jesus is the Christ, that He really did die for all our sins, that only through Him, can we be return to our Heavenly Father. Jerryd I know the Church is true. Its not always easy to do what you know you should but it will be worth it. I love you and I love this gospel. It has been a huge blessing in my live. Heavenly father does he love us. He wants what's best for us. I know if we try are hardest to do what the lord wants us to and to put his will as ours things will work out for the best. I know that Jesus Christ died for us that we can repent and come again unto him. I know he is our redeemer. He gave his life for you and me. I know that when you stand in holy places that the Holy Ghost will be with you. He is a protection heavenly father gave to us. Always listen for that still small voice. The temple is the only place to get married. It is a beautiful and wonderful place to be. The blessings you receive there are wonderful its the only place to be. I know that families can be forever. I know that Joseph Smith saw what he said he saw. I know that he translated the book of Mormon and that it's the word of God. It's a wonderful book. Love Aunt Cathy
I put this page in here for you to right your testimony for you to remember and when things get hard for you to look at and remember what you believe in.
