The following is about the four major natural disasters happening in this world right now. | Introduction

Tornadoes can destroy everything and everything in its path, so remember when there is a tornado to get to a basement or hide under a sturdy table covering your head. In the last year U.S. tornadoes have caused more than 80 deaths and left thousands injured with millions of dollars in damage. | Tornadoes | A photographer shot a picture of a wild tornado in Manchester, South Dakoda. | this big cloud is called the mother-ship cloud.
Tornadoes are formed when warm air and cold air collide. Meteorologists and some scientists can predict tornadoes. They are violent, vertical tunnels of rapidly spinning warm and cool air that come together. | Tornadoes can last anywhere from 1-7 hours. Most occur in Tornado Alley in the Spring. Signs of a tornado are wind speeds of 50-60 miles per hour. | Killer wind funnel | Tornado shot from Tornado Alley
Sometimes volcanoes can even cause other natural disasters such as earthquakes. | volcanic eruptions from natgeo | Volcanoes
Volcanoes are formed when plate boundaries collide together with thick magma with large amounts of gas build up under the surface. | They are dangerous because they take hundreds to thousands of lives per year in their hot magma. | volcanic aftershock from natgeo | 80 percent occur along the ring of fire, a long chain of active volcanoes
Earthquakes take thousands of lives per year and can cause millions of dollars in damage. they happen when two or more plate boundaries collide with 80% occurring along the ring of fire. | earthquake damage
Seismographs help seismologists to predict when and where earthquakes may occur. Yes, they are dangerous. Some people may evacuate but you shouldn't during an earthquake because you should stay indoors under something sturdy protecting you from falling debris. | earthquake damage of a collapsed bridge. | Earthquakes
Did you know that hurricanes can reach up to 30 miles wide and the only way to protect yourself is to evacuate? Most occur along the Atlantic ocean. No they do not have aftershocks. | Hurricane photo shot from space under North America. | Minor waves occurring after a hurricane.
On average there are only 3-6 hurricanes per year mainly in mid-August to late-October. Those 3-6 per year can take many lives. The hurricanes' high winds can even cause tornadoes. In one hour a hurricane can release 2.4 trillion gallons of water! | Hurricanes | Large hurricane occurred
Volcanoes Avoid valleys and low laying areas. If you are unable to evacuate, then stay inside with windows, doors, and ventilation closed. Wear long sieved shirts and pants. Wear goggles. | Tornadoes Go to a pre-designed storm caller, basement,or if there is no basement go to the lowest level of the location. Stay away from windows, doors, and outside walls. Get under something sturdy and cover your head. | tornado from fema.gov | "Killer Wind Funnel"
