BC: Thank you for taking the time to look at our book. We would love to answer any questions that you might have. ~~-Prayers, Dan & Lisa
FC: The Sweet Story of Dan & Lisa | "If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you." ~ Winnie the Pooh
Dear Birthmother, Today you are in our prayers. We promise to love and care for your child for all of our days. Each day and night they will wake and sleep knowing how loved they are. Your strength and devotion to their happiness will live on through our hearts. The hope of a child has been a life long dream for each of us and we long to build our family through adoption. Dan grew up the second of four children in the Dallas area. He and his identical twin are exceptionally close while he maintains tight relations with his entire family. Lisa is the youngest of three girls and has always dreamed of the day she too would get to be a mommy. She has spent the last two decades practicing on five nieces! Together we live with our two dogs and two cats in a central Texas college town with plenty of museums, theaters and family friendly fun. Thank you for taking the time to look at our book and we hope you can get to know us a little better! Dan & Lisa
Dan about Lisa: Lisa is the most remarkable woman. She is smart, kind, beautiful, loving, and brings joy to my life in a way no one ever has. She is going to he the most wonderful mother, too. She seems to have the golden touch with our nieces and nephews and her closet of toys and games never ceases to bring smiles during family visits.
My students are everything to me and I've spent the last eight years priding myself on having the opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of my students. I've come to be known as the crazy Kinder teacher that dresses up for all of our special events like being a Sneetch for Dr. Seuss day and being a walking picnic with 100 black ants on my shirt for the 100th day of school. I'll miss teaching. But I am so excited at the prospect of being a stay at home mom. Some day I'll be an awesome classroom mom! I feel fortunate to have had such a remarkable opportunity to work with children on a daily basis but I will gladly focus on one (or two!) at home for many years to come. | Teaching!
Lisa about Dan: Dan is the silliest, most kind hearted man that I have ever known. He is already an amazing husband but watching him with our nieces and nephews tells me that he is going to be an amazing father. He is a triathlete so he loves being outside. Someday I look forward to cheering him on from the sidelines of his next Ironman competition with a little one cheering for daddy.
For me, getting out on the bike is exciting.. I love the rush of the wind, the breathless exhilaration of sprinting, and the feeling of accomplishment when the race is over. I have completed two Ironman Triathlons and am a competitive cyclist. I look forward to nurturing my love of many different sports in an eager son and /or daughter soon.! | I love to watch Dan ride.. While cycling isn't really a spectator sport, I've has gotten very good at planning side activities to keep busy. I sure would keep a kid busy exploring, creating, and playing while waiting for the next exciting time Dan zooms by on his bike.! Dan's cycling trips have become family mini-vacations.
Our story: Dan and Lisa married July 14th, 2007 surrounded by family and friends. | Faith in the Lord is a very strong component of our marriage. We regularly attend worship as a family and look forward to raising a child in the church, attending Sunday school and youth programs Our Moms and Dads can't wait to be proud grandparents standing before the church on baptism day.
We both have advanced degrees so it's easy to see that education is very important to us. As kids we were both encouraged to seek higher education by our families and will plan to provide for college educations for children but believe that our job as parents is to support the dreams of a child, your child, even if that dream isn't college!
With semi-annual trips to Colorado to visit Dan's twin brother and his family, we love to spend time exploring national parks and the cities of what we think is one of the Nation's most beautiful states. With a summer anniversary, we love to return to the mountains to celebrate our wedding date. | ANNIVERSARY
COLORADO Hay rides, marshmallow roasting and horseback riding. Just a few things to look forward to on family vacation.
Early in our dating, I learned to camp to try out one of Lisa's favorite past times. Now camping and hiking has become a regular family event to include our siblings and parents.
Even cooking breakfast is more fun when we are camping. When we go camping we take the boys, our dogs Reese & AJ, on hikes and for swims in the lake. We can't wait to have a little one to carry with us on those beautiful, breathtaking hikes.
Making cookies and memories have always been apart of our family gatherings. Dan loves to ride his bike so he can enjoy all of the cooking and baking that we do.!
Dan and Lisa love children's parties! Lisa has been baking cakes and decorating fancy cupcakes for family, friends and students for years so she is ready to throw birthday parties! In fact, Dan has so much fun that he shows up to help at party day and field day at school!
Family For us, spending time with family is the greatest gift. Whether it is a holiday visit, playtime while babysitting, family vacation or just hanging out on the weekend, we cherish the children in our world. They can't wait for a new niece or nephew to cuddle and play with. Among Lisa's five nieces, Dan's four nephews and two nieces, there will always be friends to play with. Although separated by distance, getting together with family is a priority. You might wonder how our families feel about adoption? Dan's sister and her family are in the process of expanding their own family through the miracle of adoption and we have two very excited moms and two very excited dads ready to welcome a baby, your baby, into our family. Our entire family is very supportive and excited for us as we look to build our dream of a family through adoption.
 Future Friends
As a big sister, I've watched Lisa grow into a woman ready to raise a family. She has found such joy with Dan. I know they will be fantastic parents. ~- Missy | We look forward to sharing new experiences with a little one. Spending the day exploring the botanical gardens with Missy's girls reminded us of what it is to see the world with childlike wonder.
Wendy', my sister, has three teenage girls and they keep asking when we are going to start a family so they can babysit! Through scouting and family camping they've always had an appreciation for the great outdoors. | Having family in Upstate New York has its advantages! Looking forward to more exploring!
I have a twin brother and twin nephews, pictured below, who are also our God-children. I can't begin to describe what it means to have a twin... the bond that it brings is unbreakable. | TWINS
We love to visit our twin Godsons in Colorado.
Words from the cats: Hello. We are Abby and Silas and we've been Lisa's cats for ten years. We've known Dan and those slobbering dogs for four years now and we've grown very fond of them. Dan makes Lisa very happy so that makes us happy. We'd like to let you know that while we haven't always been super fond of little kids squealing and chasing after us, we really don't mind it much when they get close and scratch us. Those little hands are particularly good at scratching behind the ears. So, what we're trying to say is that we'd really like a baby that we can teach from the beginning to pet nicely. ~ Meow, Abby & SIlas.
A note from the boys.: Hi, we're Reese and AJ. We've known Dan for as long as we can remember. He brought Lisa home back in April of 2006 so we know her pretty doggone good now. In fact we love her so much we tolerate her cats. She has two of them. We've gotten pretty used to little kids being around. but we'd like one of our own that doesn't smell like other people's dogs. We promise to love, lick, snuggle and protect a tiny human! Love, AJ & Reese.
From Lisa: Thank you for taking the time to look at our book.. If nothing else you've learned that we are a quirky couple that loves to be together and loves to spend time with family. I think it is pretty special that Dan's family is so very close and that they have drawn me into their little loving circle. | From Dan: For me it means the world to me that Lisa's family has taken to me so strongly. Her parents are always around to help out and they can't wait till we have a child so they can dote on a local grand-baby. Holiday celebrations and family vacations together are so full of fun and activity and just plain love. I love to watch her with my nephews, I know she is going to be an excellent mom.
We'd love to hear more about you and we'd love to answer any questions or talk about anything that we may have left out from our book. It is amazing how much and how little can be squeezed into 21 pages of a photo album! Because I'm such a Pooh fan I have to include: Piglet; Pooh, how do you spell Love?" Pooh: You don't. You feel it. I know that when you find us you'll feel it because we'll feel it too. Blessings ~ Dan & Lisa
