"A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bank balance smaller, homes happier, clothes dirty, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for" | To our new bundle of joy Kennedy Rae Snively You are loved more than words can express

February 7th I took an at home pregnancy test. I thought it was too early but I did it anyways. I didn’t even bother telling your father that I was taking it. I was completely shocked to find it positive. Now I got to tell Dad! | I told him I had an early Valentine's Day present and showed him the positive test, and oh what a present it was. After a moment of disbelief we hugged and laughed and cried. We were both so excited and happy. We have wanted this for so long, and we can’t wait to tell the rest of the family! Just to make sure we ran to town that night to get a test at the doctor’s office. Yup, it was positive! | How We Found Out

We couldn’t wait to tell everyone. We hardly waited a day. We were supposed to meet up with Grandma and Grandpa Snively but Grandma had a headache and had to cancel. So we moved the meeting until Friday. We couldn’t make it that long for Grandma and Grandpa Remsing. | Dad had spent all night pushing snow, and there for, had the day off. Well kind of. He really wanted to sleep but we were just too excited to wait. Thanks to the storm I had a pretty clear schedule. This gave us a great opportunity to tell everyone. Grandma Remsing was hanging out with your Aunt Amanda and playing with your cousins as she often did once a week. We decided to tell them by showing them a picture of the positive test. Grandma didn’t have her glasses on and couldn’t see the picture so Aunt Amanda looked at it and figured it out. Oh the excitement! | Telling Mom's Side

Afterwards we all hopped in the car to meet Grandpa, Aunt Ellen, and Uncle Travis for lunch and share the great news. It was decided to go to the Golden Wok for lunch. Pretty classy I know. It was so fun telling the news again. I announced that we were meeting for a surprise. Grandma couldn’t keep it in and said “someone is pregnant!” Aunt Ellen automatically thought Aunt Amanda and replied “Amanda is pregnant again!” This put a complete shock on Uncle Travis’s face, considering your cousin Nora was just born in December and was not quite 2 months old. I quickly corrected her and let everyone know it was me. Uncle Travis got some relief and we got a good laugh. We had to call Uncle Dusty because he was in Kansas City and working. Due to snow and his busy work schedule we didn’t know when we would see him in person next. After asking if this was a good thing, and us telling him yes, he congratulated us.

We didn’t have a chance to tell Great Grandma Remsing or Great Aunts and Uncles on the Remsing side because Grandpa Remsing had already started calling people and telling them. The word spreads quickly and like I said Grandpa was excited. I still called and talked about it with everyone. Everyone is so excited to meet you | The news spread quickly through the office, with help from me of course. I knew if I didn’t tell them Grandpa would beat me to the punch. He was so excited he started telling every patient he had that he was going to be a grandpa again. With news like this, it is hard to keep quiet.

They announced the great news and I heard excited whooping and hollering in the background. Along with a “who’s the father” crack from one of your ornery Great Uncles, either Great Uncle Johnny or Great Uncle Tom. | I did get ahead of him on Grandma Remsing’s side of the family. I called Great Grandpa Schroeder’s on a Sunday. Everyone gathers at his house on Sundays. I told Great Grandpa first. He was sick and not feeling well, so he passed the phone on. I was so excited to tell everyone I can’t remember if it was Great Aunt Janie, Great Aunt Margaret, or Sister Loretta but it was one of those three. I blurted it out on the phone.

She was right. I didn’t find out until the following Tuesday and there was no way I could have made it all weekend without saying anything. Heck it was hard making it to the end of the week! We started talking names, dates, and everything baby. It was a great dinner. | Like I said we had to move the meeting to Friday due to Grandma Snively not feeling well. Man was it torture waiting, but we made it. We met Grandma and Grandpa Snively at the Mexican restaurant in Clay Center for dinner. We announced it by letting Grandma know she was going to have to share her birth month with a grandchild. Grandpa said he knew this was what we were going to tell them but Grandma was convinced he was wrong, and let him know on the trip to Clay Center. I had spent the past weekend with her for Aunt Christa’s baby shower for Jessa and she knew there was no way I could have made it all weekend without telling her. | Telling Dad's Side

The next day we were going on a buffalo wing crawl with Uncle Daniel, Sun, and Dad’s cousins John and Daniel Maslen. We met up with Uncle Daniel and Sun early and told them over buffalo wings at Bobby Ts. We had yet to decide when we were going to tell everyone, so we waited on telling Cousin John and Daniel. News spread quickly and they found out soon anyways. I shared over a dozen wings with you and started my first pregnancy food craving, spicy food. It didn’t last long though. It didn’t take long for morning sickness and queasiness to settle in for me. | We called Uncle Jeremy. We wanted to tell him in person but with all the storms Dad had to work a lot and we didn’t know the next time we would see him in person. We let him know we weren’t going to try and catch up with him. As you know he provides you with 7 of your cousins!

We called Aunt Christa to tell her. I knew we were going to see her in person soon cause Jessa was scheduled to be born. I would have loved to tell her in person but I knew Grandma Snively couldn’t hold it in and she had plans to be at Aunt Christa’s helping out before the arrival of Jessa on February 15th. It was fun telling her. We took her by surprise and like us she was excited that there would be cousins around the same age. | Your cousin Jessa, not long after she was born

We did get to tell Great Grandma Snively, also known as Grandma Great, in person. We were able to go to Wichita shortly after Jessa was born to meet her. We took this opportunity to visit with Grandma Great and deliver the news that she was going to have another great grandchild. She was so excited I think she was ready to start crocheting you a blanket right then and there, but we were at Braums. I ordered a jalapeno burger, more of my spicy food craving. We visited for a long time, and Grandma Great started telling us how many twins were on Dad’s side and I started thinking how many twins run on my side. Heck Grandma Remsing is a twin. Is there just one of you or two? | We dropped a call to Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Maslen the same day, since we couldn’t make it out to Ark City. We had to get home, a storm was coming and Dad was going to have to work. I can still hear the laughter and delight in Great Grandma’s voice. Excitement, Excitement, Excitement!

As soon as all our immediate family knew, we started call all our friends. We were going to wait a couple of weeks, maybe until the end of the 1st trimester. We couldn’t wait though. We were on the phone for hours. Did I tell you we were excited? | WEEK 5 | THE BEGINING | WEEK 5

Around the end of Week 6 I started get queasy and having morning sickness. Morning sickness is a complete incorrect name. I had morning sickness all day and night. Sometimes I would get sick at 2 in the morning, sometimes at 2 in the evening. It was mostly after I ate. Whenever I got sick I tried to be positive. It meant that you were still there and just letting me know. I considered myself lucky. I never had to wonder. | WEEK 6 | Your Dad was great at taking care of me too. He would often clean the kitchen and do the dishes so I didn’t have to see or smell the food that just made me sick. The worst was bacon. We had it once and I got so sick the word couldn’t be spoken around me without making me run to the bathroom. It was referred to as the B word for the 1st trimester. I gagged just thinking of it. He would often light a candle so I didn’t have to smell food either.

Your Dad would rub my back when I got sick at night and couldn’t sleep. It got to the point where he would do it in his sleep. I would wake up, get sick, come lay down, and he would rub my back and snore at the same time. Like I said he was good at taking care of me. So good he could do it in his sleep One time I came home from work and he had completely cleaned the bathroom. He had even scrubbed the toilet. He said “I figure your head is in it so much, it should at least be clean.” It was so sweet. It was better than getting flowers!

March 15th I have my first real pregnancy appointment. I am meeting with the head nurse for my Week 10 appointment and getting all the needed information. I don’t think I am that far along. I have gained 2lbs. | WEEK 7 | WEEK 8 | WEEK 9 | WEEK 10

WEEK 11 | I had been training for a marathon when I found out I was pregnant. I tried to keep it up but it was too hard with the queasiness and fatigue. I had to cut back. I started getting a pain in my abdomen that got more irritated when I was running. I was told by the head nurse I had pulled a muscle in my stomach from vomiting too hard. I was also told I had to slow my running pace down since running aggravated it. Well that is basically a walk, I am not that fast. Still right before the muscle pull I ran 10 miles the weekend before. I can still be proud. I had planned on running the Manhattan St Paddy’s Day race with Uncle Daniel and Great Uncle David. Uncle Daniel had hurt his foot, Great Uncle David didn’t get to train, and I was sick and had a pulled stomach muscle. We ran the 10K anyways. We basically came in last but had a great time doing it. We were playing Eye of the Tiger on my phone as we crossed the finish line. I have a feeling this is going to be my last race for a while. No marathon this year

April 5th. We heard your heartbeat for the 1st time! It was amazing! It sounds like a factory more than a heartbeat. I was going to bring my video camera to record it but chickened out at the last minute. I wish I wouldn’t have though, because your father’s face was priceless. I have never seen such joy come from him, not even on our wedding day. Your heart beat was around 156-158 bpm. I think that the old wives tale says that means you are a girl. The Chinese gender predictor also says you are going to be a girl. We will have to wait and see! We do know now that there is only you. No twins this time Dr. Priddle ordered a sonogram so they could place my due date, since I was measuring small. I have been telling everyone it is October 19th up until now, even though they had told me it was earlier in October at the beginning of my pregnancy. I know I am not that far along. I have gained a total of 3lbs | WEEK 12

You moved all over the place, I think you were dancing. I was in complete awe. It is amazing how developed you are for how small you are. The ultrasound tech is guessing you are a girl. I think she is right, but we are still thinking of both boy and girl names. | April 11th. We had our 1st sonogram. I ate a fruit roll-up because I heard sugar will make the baby move and boy did it. | Right now the top runners are Stella for a girl and Irvin for a boy. I posted your sonogram pictures on Facebook. I am past the 1st trimester and I am ready to let the whole world know I am expecting.

April 24th Great Grandpa Schroeder turned 99 years old today. He had a rough last year but is doing well. I think he is going to make it to his 100th birthday. You’ll be there! April 26th Dad turned 29 years old today. We wanted to start our family before he turned 30. You are going to make it happen. Thanks! | WEEK 14 | WEEK 15

May 5th. I had a routine checkup with the Doctor. You are a healthy baby with a good heart beat. Dr. Priddle thinks you are a boy based on heartbeat. I hear he doesn’t have a good guessing average and I still think you are a girl. I scheduled a sonogram to find out for sure. The big day is June 3rd and I can’t wait! I have gained a total of 5 lbs so far May 7th. Today a random guy at Costco came up to me and told me I was having a girl. He said that I could take it to the bank. It was a guarantee. It is funny because I think he is right. I also had someone ask me if they could touch my belly for the first time. I knew them so it was okay but I started to wonder when strangers will ask to or if they will. | WEEK 16

May 8th. Today is my 1st Mother’s Day ever! I am celebrating even though you are not here yet because I have been mothering you and taking care of you for 17 weeks now. We are still discussing names. Boy names have been the hardest. We have a hard time finding one that we both like. Irvin, after Great Grandpa Schroeder, is still a front runner. We are thinking with the middle name Ray, after Dad of course. Although this name would give you the initials IRS. Hmmm. For a girl Dad decided he doesn’t care for Stella and I decided it is becoming too popular. Aunt Amanda suggested Kennedy the other day. I like it and it can be a takeoff of Grandpa Snively’s name too. Dad really liked it when I suggested it. Grandpa Snively loves it and told Grandma he hopes we have a girl. What to use as a middle name? With Stella we were going to go with Louise, after your Aunt Christa. Her middle name is Louise and Dad use to tease her growing up about it. He called her Wheeze. He was thinking we should still go with Louise but I was not sure if it flows with Kennedy. My friend, Katy suggested Rae for a middle name. I liked the flow of the name and it gives homage to Dad as well. Dad agreed. It sounded like a good name and became our top choice for a girl

They say you can start feeling your baby move around 16 to 20 weeks. I often lie in bed and try and feel you. I think I felt you move the other day but I am not sure. I am not sure if I really felt you or I just wanted to feel you so bad I imagined it. It felt like someone was giving me butterfly kisses on the inside of my stomach. | WEEK 17 | WEEK 18

May 23rd I am positive I felt you move. I was standing in line at the gas station. I was buying pizza because your dad and I have been working on the kitchen and I wasn’t able to cook dinner. I was starving and apparently you were to because I think you kicked me for having dinner so late. I must have looked like a dork with a big cheesy smile while paying for pizza, but I couldn't wait to get home and tell Dad. He too got a cheesy grin when I told him. | Speaking of the kitchen, there was a reason that we were working on it other than trying to make the house look better. I had my 1st and rare hormonal pregnancy breakdown that led us to redo the kitchen. When our kitchen faucet broke and I couldn’t turn it off I broke down in tears and foul language. When your father said we could change out the faucet I cried that we couldn’t afford a new faucet because we were having a baby. We could afford a new faucet. In fact I ended up getting a new faucet, a new sink and new counter tops. Your dad spoils me | WEEK 19

June 3rd I scheduled my sonogram 1st thing in the morning so I didn’t have to wait all day. You are not shy and you let us know you are a sweet baby girl. We had it in our minds you were a girl so it would have been a major surprise if they said anything other than a girl. Dad is so proud. I started getting paint chips and buying fabric for the nursery that day. I am so excited. Found out my favorite fact about your development so far. At 20 weeks you can really start to hear things. You can now recognize Dad’s voice as well as mine. You can hear the dogs bark, and the vacuum run. In fact loud noises can startle you and if things are too loud you can cover your ears! (Covering the ears, that is my favorite fact) Dad takes time to talk to you. He is normally telling you to wake up and move so he can try and feel you kick. I think it is too early for him to feel you anyways but we still try. | WEEK 20 | WEEK 21

June 24th We got the crib up. Yay! Dad did most of the work. I helped some. The nursery is starting to come together. I get excited every time I walk into the room. | You are moving like crazy, all the time. I love it. You especially move in the morning. I sometimes sit on the couch and just enjoy your little squirms. Dad can’t feel it yet but hopefully soon. I hope you will let him feel you move by | WEEK 22 | WEEK 23 | Father's Day

Well it is past Father’s Day but you let Dad feel a faint kick following. It wasn’t much but it was enough. Every day we get more and more excited. It feels like forever until you get here. June 27th had a routine checkup. Your heartbeat is good and they gave me the OK to travel which is good because we have a family vacation planned next week for Michigan. I can’t wait to see the family I have gained a total of 12 lbs so far Before leaving for Michigan, Dad couldn’t sleep. I was snoring away. Dad felt my tummy to see if you were squirming around. Turns out you were and he felt a better kick than the other day. He was so happy and content he fell right to sleep waiting for you to kick again. You make him so happy already. | "A father is someone who carries pictures where his money used to be."

We traveled to Michigan to visit family for 4th of July. I am having a great time showing off my pregnant belly. I can still move and bend without trouble. Let see how long this last. Great Grandpa Schroeder told me “watch out for that baby, she’s gonna be a pistol” I got a great picture with him. He is doing great and really bouncing back from a hard year. He is an amazing man. July 6th I had a baby shower while I was in Michigan. It was great fun and I enjoyed visiting with everyone. Everyone was so generous. There was lots of good advice and great food. Grandma made a tasty punch along with some vodka slushes. I stuck with the punch, but I think I may have been the only one. Everyone knew you were a girl then and I got lots of cute, fun, pink stuff. It made me all the more excited. Your poor cousin Kaiser had an allergic reaction from eating one milk chocolate M&M right before the shower. | It makes me wonder if you will have any allergies. I hope not but apparently they do run in the family. We tend to have more seasonal and bee allergies more than anything. I guess I will have to be prepared for anything.July 9th I started signing the thank you notes with your name on the bottom. It looks like Kennedy is going to stick | WEEK 24

July 10th after a long trip home from Michigan a nice, relaxing rest sounded great. You were not having it. You were moving so much I could see my whole stomach move. You let Dad feel you kick again and you kicked hard! I think he was in shock and disbelief how well he could feel it. Most of the time, when you do move you instantly stop when he puts his hand on my stomach. I tell him that you are comforted by him, that or you are already ornery | July 15th Grandma and Grandpa Snively came to visit us in Riley. Grandpa wanted to see the Pawn Shop, your father's hang out spot. He ended up buying himself a new gun. Grandma wanted to see the progress of the nursery, and of course she loved it. I also got to show off my new presents from my shower in Michigan. I also got to show off the light fixtures and ceiling fan you Dad is going to put up for me. Yay! Not only do you let Dad feel you move now, but you gave Grandma a good kick too. I think it made her day | WEEK 25

July 16th I drove up to Kansas City for a shower with my hygiene school friends. My friend Amber worked really hard and the shower was adorable. Everything was lemon themed, even the food. However Amber did get me an apple pie because she knows I love fruit pie. | I had a blast catching up with everyone. Who knows when I will make it up there again? Probably not until after you are born. I of course want to show you off then.

We went to a benefit for Dad’s friend’s little boy. He has osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bone syndrome. It is scary stuff and it make me thank God that I know you are healthy thus far. | I can’t believe I am in the 3rd trimester already. Time goes by so quickly but so slowly at the same time. July 25th I had another doctor’s appointment. The doctor thinks you may be big. I have a short torso and seem to be all belly. He also said that I am not his tallest patient either and so I might just look big. Hey you might come early. I wouldn’t mind as long as it isn’t too early and you are healthy. After meeting with the Doctor the lab let me know I failed my first glucose test and have to take another one July 29th. This doesn’t sound fun. I have gained a total of 17 lbs so far | WEEK 27 | WEEK 28

July 29th I didn’t pass the 2nd glucose test. It looks like I have gestational diabetes. I have to meet with a diabetes nurse next week and then a diabetes dietitian the following week. I wish I could go in sooner because I have no idea what I am doing. I have been doing a lot of research online. I just want to make sure you are healthy and I take the best care of you I can. I went to the public library and checked out books I thought might help me, even some cook books. Did you know you can check out 13 books from the library at one time? I didn’t realize all the things that are bad for you if you have diabetes. I knew I was going to have to give up my ice cream. I love me some ice cream. But potatoes, milk, corn, and fruit can all be high in sugar and carbohydrates. It is going to be hard to cut back on the milk. That is one thing I have been craving while pregnant with you. I want milk all the time, sometimes with chocolate. One time I drank half a gallon while driving home from the grocery store. I couldn’t wait until I got home. I just cracked open the gallon jug and started drinking. By the time I got home it was over 1/2 gone, and that is only a 20 minute drive. I can’t imagine what I looked like to other drivers. I’m a big fruit eater too, and peach season is coming up. Peaches are one of my favorite fruits. I’ll have to figure out how to fit them into my diet, they are just too good to pass up. Grandma Remsing thinks she may have had gestation diabetes. We were all bigger babies, which is a sign of gestational diabetes. Aunt Ellen was almost 9 lbs, Aunt Amanda was over 10 lbs, Uncle Dusty was almost 11 lbs, and I was over 9 lbs myself. You might be a big baby. Please just be healthy.

August 4th I had my gestation diabetes meeting. Turns out I get to check my blood sugar 4 times a day. Ouch! That is 4 needle pokes a day. Plus I have to keep a detailed food diary. I need to up my walking form three 30 minute walks a week to seven 30 minute walks a week, or a 30 minute walk a day. It has been 110 degrees out for the last couple of weeks. Ugh talk about hot flashes. | Speaking of which, I have been so lucky as to be pregnant through one of the hottest summers in a long time. We have had almost 50 days over 100 degrees already this summer. Several of them were in a row and were 110, not including the heat index. I get asked a lot if I am miserable being pregnant in this weather. My thought process is “who isn’t miserable?” We all instantly sweat when we step outside. I’d rather be already warm in a hot summer than walking my clumsy self through ice. | Week 29

August 12th I had a meeting with the gestational diabetes dietitian. Things are going good and I found a way to work milk and peaches into my diet, and even some ice cream here and there! | August 9th it’s my birthday! I turned 28 years old today. Grandpa Remsing’s assistant brought me angel food cake for my birthday. It is homemade and one of my favorites. It was hard to resist more than one piece. My glucometer tells me that may have been too much anyways. I guess I’ll have to keep it down to one piece. Dad took me out for Buffalo Wild Wings. No carbs there! That left me enough leeway to have some frozen yogurt. I had peanut butter frozen yogurt topped with fresh strawberries. Amazing! I told him after you are born I want a big bowl of it brought to me in the hospital, that and a cold cut sandwich. Let’s see if he remembers. | Week 30

August 15th I finally got my maternity scrubs! I needed them desperately. My old scrubs were way to snug, and I was about a month over due for needing them. I was down to one pair that I could wear because it had stretchy side panels. I had to wash that one pair every night for the past couple of weeks so I had work clothes. My new scrubs are so cute and comfy. I love them! | Week 31

August 20th Your Aunt Christa threw a fun shower at their new place in Newton. It had the theme of our little “Ray” of sunshine. Aubrey helped with the decorations and it was so cute. Dad’s cousin Amy helped out a lot and through her and Christa’s hard work we all had a great time. Grandma Snively helped me put temporary tattoos on my belly | right before the shower, so I could show off my | belly. When Christa was marking a check box for the tattoos you kicked so hard it startled all of us, especially Aunt Christa. It was hilarious! We played a game where everyone had to guess the circumference of my belly. We measured me right around my belly button and it was 43 | inches around, only Great Aunt Julie guessed less than 50 inches. Like I said I look big, and I am all belly. Oh but wow I kind of miss my old waist. However I love my belly and I love maternity clothes. They are so comfortable! I can just let it all hang out.

TUMMY | TATTOOS | You are my little "Ray" of sunshine!

August 25th I had another doctor’s appointment. I am now at the point where I will have an appointment every two weeks, and pretty soon it will be once a week. That means I am that much closer to meeting you. You had a heartbeat of 127 to 130 bpm. Good and healthy! I lost a pound and now have a total weight gain of 16.5 lbs | You sure have been getting the hiccups a lot recently. I don’t know when I realized the movements you were making where hiccups, but now every time I feel them I can’t help but smile. They are a great opportunity to let Dad feel your little movements. Last time he you had them he told you to stand on your head, and I told you to swallow some amniotic fluid. We think we are funny. You have also been sticking body parts out so he can feel those too. We try to guess if you are sticking out a foot, an arm, or maybe even a bottom. My whole stomach will be lopped sided sometimes. You tend to like the left side, but recently I have been feeling you all over. I think you are running out of room. | WEEK 32

I started feeling some Braxton Hicks contractions this week. They were not so comfortable and I told your Dad that I’m not sure I will be very good at this giving labor business. I’ll do my best, just please take it easy on me. | I measured around my belly like we did last week at my shower and I am 44 inches. That is a whole inch and a half in one week! | I pre-registered at the hospital today. Then Dad and I took a tour of the maternity ward. Manhattan has a really nice hospital and I know we will be in good hands. I get overjoyed every time I think about when and where you will let me know you are ready to come. Will it be the middle of the day or night? During the week or weekend? This is going to be fun! | WEEK 33

I think you are starting to drop a little. Grandma Remsing doesnÂ’'t think so, but it sure feels like you are sitting right on my bladder all the time. I definitely cannot make it through the whole night anymore. I guess I am getting use to waking up in the middle of the night so maybe it will be easier when you get here and I have to get up in the wee hours of the night to feed you

WEEK 34 | September 9th I had a sonogram and a doctor’s appointment today. They measured you and found that you are 5 lbs 2 oz right now. They think you will be about 7 lb 2 oz to 7 lbs 4 oz when you are born. You measure in the 32 percentile for overall size. You have a small head. Your head measures in the 10 percentile. You also have small femurs. I think you are going to be a little petite baby. The sonogram also showed that you have hair. With the small femurs and lots of hair you are already taking after me more than Dad! | They told me they won’t let me go past 41 weeks. That means I will for sure have a daughter in a month and a half! | September 9th I had a sonogram and a doctor’s appointment today. They measured you and found that you are 5 lbs 2 oz right now. 42: Week 35 Sonogram | Spine | Hair | Foot | Your heartbeat was 136 bpm. I lost a little more weight and now have a total weight gain of 12.5 lbs. Dr. Priddle says that my weight gain is fine though. You are healthy and I am healthy, so things are great! | Spine

 Diaper Cakes!

September 10th I had one more shower. Aunt Ellen, Aunt Amanda and Grandma Remsing put it on for me. It was at the office. I had a lot of friends come and had a blast. The food was diabetic friendly and I enjoyed much of it. I also received a lot of fun gifts that are going to be so handy when you get here

I feel so huge I don't know how I am going to make it another month and a half. I also move much slower. At the end of week 35 I started going through a nesting stage. I pulled everything out of closets, shelves and boxes. I decided the whole house needs to be organized. | WEEK 35

 WEEK 36

September 18th I started swelling as soon as I hit week 36. I started getting cankles. Not a good look for me. This is also interfering with my nesting. I have the house in shambles but my feet are so swollen I have to stop so I can put my feet up. I will work on it throughout the week

September 20th I had a doctor’s appointment today but I started having contractions this morning. I’m not positive when they started but I think around 9 am. I wasn’t keeping track of them because I thought they were Braxton hicks or false labor. I did not think I was in actual labor. I canceled my patients in the afternoon so I could relax and figure out how to deal with “the Braxton hicks” contractions, but finished all my morning patients | WEEK 36 still...

By my last patient at 12:00 I was having contraction 1 minute long and 5 minutes apart. I held out for my doctor’s appointment at 1:30. I had a total weight gain of 16.5 pounds at this visit. They checked me and said I was dilated to only 1cm but recommended I go to the hospital to be monitored since I was having contractions. I checked into the hospital at 2 pm at 1cm and by 3 pm I was dilated to a 3. They informed me that I was going to have a baby in the next 24 hours. It took everyone by complete surprise, after all I am only 36 weeks along. You are not supposed to be born for another 3 to 4 weeks! Ready or not you were coming! By 6:05 I was fully dilated and ready to push. You were born at 6:28 pm. You weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces and were 18 3/4 inches. This defiantly tops my list of happiest moments! I can’t wait to see you grow up! I love you!
