36: A Word From Coach Eric | Hello to my Razor Shark Players, I hope you all had a fun season, I know I sure sure did! As I write this, there are only a couple weeks left in the season. Here are some of the things I remember: Our first practice was back in August of 2010. It was still summer & many of you came to practice in shorts! Looking around the locker room, we all realized there were some old friends, but also some new faces. Once we took to the ice, we realized we would eventually become a team, but had lots of work to do before we would start to play like a team. We began to work hard, but also had some fun along the way. In September, we had our first team party at the Posa's home where we all got to know each other a little better. We learned new things about each other and realized that we had a great bunch of players & families!! When we started playing actual games, we really struggled at first. It took us a while before we even scored a goal. When we finally scored that first goal, everyone celebrated like we had won the Sate Championship. | As the season went on, we started scoring in almost every game and different players were scoring. We also were holding the other teams to lower goals against. The games were getting closer and closer and we were starting to play like a “team”. Finally we won a game! It was a huge!!! This time celebrated like we had won the Olympics.
37: In later December and January we had some players get hurt and some players who were really sick. It was scary at times, but it turns out that everyone was eventually OK. We had to play some games with barely enough players and that was hard too. I was proud of how everyone handled themselves in these difficult situations. I feel these tough challenges helped pull us closer together as a team. | In February we started playing in the Little Caesar’s playoffs and we did well enough to make it into the 2nd round. For the first game we played the top-seeded team. We were not supposed to win, but by the end of regulation the score was tied. We started the first “sudden death” overtime and it ended after 3 minutes without anyone scoring. We started the 2nd overtime and then suddenly scored!!! The game was over and we had one!!! This was really huge!!! We celebrated like we had won the Stanley Cup!!! I was very proud of how everyone played. As a coach, I think this was a high point for our team and certainly the most exciting game of the season. | As I look back at the season, I think it was a lot of fun and every player improved his skills along the way. I hope you think so too. I am so very proud of each and every one of you. I also hope that you continue to play the game in the future and no matter what team you end up on, the most important thing to me is that you keep playing hockey! Play Hard and Have Fun!! -Coach Eric
