I want to start off and say that I have the best support system that anyone could ever ask for. My friends Elizabeth, Lainee, Andrew, and Emily constantly provide support for me and without them I would be lost. If I need something they are always there for me no matter what it is that I need. School has been challenging for the past 13 years but I have persevered and made it into the college of my dreams, with drama of course. Go Heels! I have been a fan of Carolina since coming out of the womb and I cannot wait to start in the fall. My family has also been a big influence in my life. My mother has been there for me through thick and thin. Ever since my father passed away she has been the shoulder that I could cry on. That day was most definitely the toughest day of my life and I often can’t get to sleep for months at a time because of the memory that is seared in my brain. Even though I am sleep deprived I try my best not to show it because I am not the one to complain about anything. I am more worried about others than I am myself. I live my life trying to be the best person I can be. This is the reason that I want to become a doctor because I want to help people while being successful at the same time. | Thoughts

I like to live my life in service of others because I know the pain that someone could possibly go through and I know firsthand how nice it is to have someone there for you. I would say that I have experienced more suffering than the average person but that’s what makes me who I am and I can have empathy towards anyone and that helps me with connecting with all sorts of people. Another person who has had a profound influence on my life is Mike Holt. He is my youth director at my church and he was the person that introduced me to service and helped me enjoy it. He has also provided me with opportunities to make a difference in someone’s life and that means the world to me. I think I am about done with all of this and I can’t wait to see what the future holds and I am so ready to become my dream, a tarheel.

Fun is what happens when you let go of what’s holding you back. Faith is the step you take when you can’t see what’s on the other side. You have to love yourself before you can love someone else. Ambition is the fuel to success, people without ambition fail. There is no reason to hate, just a reason to love more. Anger is natural, but the consequences are man made. Do something you love and you’ll never have to work another day in your life. Pride is okay, arrogance is too much. Money is the fabric of all things evil, love is the fabric of all things good. Family is what keeps you sane when everything else isn’t. Society is full of patterns, none of which are healthy. Friends are the family that you choose. School is important, but tolerance is more so. God is where love is. Death is not the end of me but the mere beginning. Marriage is the strongest bond two people could possibly have. Learning comes from experience. The future is so bright I that I am going to need sunglasses. Desire is the fuel that makes every person go. Honesty is the most important quality a person can have. | Philosophy of Life

I Wonder I wonder why if we recognize the valedictorian then we should recognize the lowest person in the class I wonder why we want something after it’s gone I wonder what the difference between crabby patties and krabby patties is I wonder why I have such bad luck I wonder why some people suffer more than others I wonder why people try so hard for the things that don’t matter but give up on the things that do I wonder why everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die I wonder why people assume I wonder how people can get to know you but not know you at all I wonder why fears are so irrational

Sentence Completion Some people seem only to want to live for themselves. People can hurt my feelings the most when they don’t care. I get angry when I see that someone is being treated wrong. I feel happiest of all when I make a difference is someone. My major goal in life is to impact the lives of others in a positive way. The greatest crime one man can do toward another is to not care or look after one another. My greatest fear is losing someone close to me. If I could have one wish, it would be to give me the courage at all times to change the things that need change.

My greatest weakness is that I care too much sometimes. My greatest strength is that I am good in a variety of topics. If I could do one thing to improve mankind, it would be to make all men equal all around the world and to stop oppression. The thing I would most want to be remembered for after leaving high school is that I stayed loyal to my friends and that I was the best person that I could be. If I could talk to one person in the past it would be Gandhi because of the impact he made on the world. If I could change one thing about myself, it would be that I’m shy. If I could interview anyone in the world, I would choose Lady Gaga because I think that it would be hilarious to do so.

 My Best Friends :)

Every time I look in the mirror All these lines on my face getting clearer The past is gone It goes by, like dusk to dawn Isn't that the way Everybody's got their dues in life to pay Yeah, I know nobody knows where it comes and where it goes I know it's everybody's sin You got to lose to know how to win Half my life is in books' written pages Lived and learned from fools and from sages You know it's true All the things come back to you Sing with me, sing for the year Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears Sing with me, if it's just for today Maybe tomorrow, the good lord will take you away Yeah, sing with me, sing for the year sing for the laughter, sing for the tear sing with me, if it's just for today Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away Dream On Dream On Dream On Dream until your dreams come true Dream On Dream On Dream On Dream until your dream comes through Dream On Dream On Dream On Dream On Dream On Dream On Dream On Sing with me, sing for the year sing for the laughter, sing for the tear sing with me, if it's just for today Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away Sing with me, sing for the year sing for the laughter, sing for the tear Sing with me, if it's just for today Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away...... | Dream On

This song by Aerosmith is obviously about keeping a dream alive. This song automatically makes me thing of the quote by Franklin McCain when he said that “the facts don’t matter when the dream’s big enough.” As a person, I would say that I have lofty dreams and the meaning of this song tells me to “Dream On.” With trying to become a doctor and also major in engineering, I will have plenty of challenges but this song reminds me that I need to keep my dream alive through all of the tribulations that I am going to experience in the near future. The band Aerosmith has plenty of great songs but this song has the most meaning to me because of the spirit behind the song. No matter what happens I need to “Dream On” as narrated by Aerosmith.

Sheldon I find myself most similar to Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. My most similar trait to Sheldon is my apparent sarcasm in everything I say. If there is an opportunity for sarcasm I have to use it. I would also classify myself as smart and very nerdy because of my affinity for calculus. Most of my focus is on school which is just what Sheldon does. Also, Sheldon adheres to a strict schedule and I am the exact same way. If something doesn't go to plan I get very upset.

“Be the change that you want to see in the world” -Gandhi This quote is what I live by because someone else is not going to change what you want to change. We often look for somebody else to change the world, but we forget that everyone else has the same feeling. This reminds me that I have to take initiative for what I want to see happen in the world. If I see an injustice it is my duty as a human to “be the change” in a worldwide scale or to just one person. We spend so much time looking out for ourselves that we don’t realize the injustices in the world. | “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” -Romans 12:2 This is my favorite Bible verse because of the message it sends. Do not go along with the crowd, don’t give into peer pressure, and create your own path. Just because the world says something is right doesn’t mean that it is and that you should transform yourself to see Godly things, not worldly. I would like to say that I live by this verse on a daily basis but I cannot because we all get sucks into the patterns of this world that are wrong. Still, this verse has a resounding effect on my life and factors into many decisions I make. | Quotations

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” -Gandhi Serving others in my opinion is the most important thing you can do. As a human it means a lot when someone does something to help you and it is our job to do the same. When you serve others you get to see a smile on someone’s face and in those moments you see who you want to be. This quote tells the absolute truth and if everyone acted in service toward others, peace might be achieved in this world we live in. | “The facts don’t matter if the dream’s big enough” -Franklin McCain Franklin McCain was one of the four freshmen in the Greensboro sit-in. His dream was that all men would treated equally regardless of skin color. This quote means so much to me because if you have a dream, go for it. Don’t listen to what other people say about it, just go for it. If you fail, who hasn’t. Another thing he said to me personally that stuck was that he was just as normal as we were. I can make a difference just like he could as long as I stay focused and go for it. | “Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.” -Ghandi This quote also has special meaning to me because strength is not always physical; it is what drives you from within. If you don’t give up you are showing your strength. Just because you are strong doesn’t mean you have strength. This quote also shines light on the fact that things are not always as they seem and that you shouldn’t judge people on outward appearance but on inward strength.

The biggest regret in my life is definitely, by far, is not telling my father that I loved him right before he died. I had the opportunity to but I didn’t. Because of this event, I always tell the people close to me that I love them before I let them go. I know I might be blaming myself more than I should but I can’t help the regret I feel for not saying three little words. That day was the worst day of my life and every time I look back I regret the things I didn’t do. I feel like I shouldn’t feel this way but I can’t help regret. My best friends, Elizabeth, Lainee, and Andrew, I couldn’t live without and I have to tell them I love them or I couldn’t live with myself if I let them go without telling them I love them God forbid if something happened. I don’t want a repeat feeling of the feeling I felt then and I would find some solace that my last words to them were I love you. No one can say I love you enough and if and only if those three words escaped my mouth when my father died, I wouldn’t have to love with the regret that I do now. | Regret

Dear Freshman, Well, let's start at Freshman year. Walking through those doors can be extremely intimidating and scary. Do not worry though, you will make it I promise. That first year is the largest learning experience of your life so far and will determine how you spend the next three. Get involved and join a club or two, decide what kind of student you want to be and do not fall short of your expectations. This year will decide all the others, so do not sell yourself short. Sophomore year is probably one of the most monotonous years in high school. You aren't the youngest anymore but you aren't old enough to call seniority. This is a year you just have to get through and make it past, because the last two are always the most fun. Sophomore year is where you make your statement, running for an office, getting better at a sport, or just deciding what you want to do with your life. It sounds crazy but you really have to start thinking early. The next two years will fly by so start as soon as you can. Junior year is the most pivotal year of high school. This is the year you make choices and visit schools and apply for your first scholarships. This year you have to really buckle down and get to it. Academically this year will be your hardest, and you have to work your tail off to get it all done. You will do it though, we believe in you, and you can get through this year. I did it, so trust me you can. Finally, Senior year. The one everyone talks about, dreams about, and cannot get enough of when it is here. This will be the most fun year of high school, with privileges and superlatives and banquets and awards. This year is when you decide your next four years, which is scary, but amazingly fun at the same time. College is exciting, but don't waste your last year fussing over it. Make your tough choices and move on, it will be so much less stressful that way. As long as you started early your Junior year, the next will be a breeze. Remember, high school will not be the best years of your life forever, but only you can make them the best years so far. | Freshman Advice
