BC: By Abrya Fields Ms. Gentekos Pd. 8 Romeo and Juliet project: Scrapbook.

FC: Love, Fate, And Betrayal

1: Paris scatters flowers, that he took from Page, on Juliet's grave just before Romeo shows up with Balthasar. | The picture captures the theme of love conquers all because it was love that drove Paris to Juliet's grave with the flowers and drove him to fight Romeo | "Sweet flower, with flowers thy bridal bed I strew." | Act 5 Scene 3 Line 12 | Love Conquers all

2: The knife Juliet took from Romeo's dead body symbolizes the theme love conquers all. Because Juliet loved romeo so much, when she woke from her tomb and found him dead she was willing to kill herself to be with him. Their death ended the feud between the two families "Yea, noise? Then I'll be brief. O, happy dagger, this is thy sheath. There rust and let me die." Act 5 Scene 3 Lines 174-175. | The poison Romeo got from the apothecary represents love conquers all. Love conquers all because Romeo loved Juliet so much that he was willing to kill himself because she was, so he thought, dead. "Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die." Act 5 Scene 3 Line 120. | Love Conquers all | The money symbolizes th theme love conquers all because Romeo was willing to pay the apothecary for poison, even though he knew it was illegal, so that he could kill himself to be with Juliet. "Hold, there is forty ducats. Let me have a dram of poison..." Act 5 Scene 1 Lines 63-64

3: The letter, Queen Mab, and mask symbolize the theme "A persons destiny is determined by the stars" because these are what results in such a tragic ending. The letter, sent by Frair Lawrence, not being received is why Romeo assumed Juliet was dead. "Who bear my letter, then, to Romeo? I could not send it (here it is again)." Act 5 Scene 3 Lines 13-14. The mask is for the Capulet ball that Romeo crashed. He used a mask, just like everyone else did, and it is here that he met Juliet. "Now I'll tell you without asking. My master is the great rich Capulet, and, if you be not of the house of Montagues, I pray come and crush a cup of whine." Act 1 Scene 2 Lines 85-88. And lastly Queen Mab, who symbolizes the dream Romeo had about the Ball. Mercutio believes that Queen Mab, the queen of dreams, gave Romeo the dream he had in the beginning . His dream was that as a result of going to the ball someone will die. and as shown, it came true in the end. "I fear too early, for my mind mis gives some consequences yet hanging in the stars shall bitterly begin his fearful date with the night's revels, and expire the term of a despised life closed in my breast by some vile forfeit of untimely death." Act 1 Scene 4Lines 113-118 | A persons Destiny is determined by the stars

4: This picture conveys the theme of "One betrayal. leads to another" "...But cheifly to take thence from her dead finger a precious ring , a ring that I must use..." Act 5 Scene 3 Lines 30-31. Romeo gave this ring to Juliet when they got married. This shows betrayal for two reasons. One is that Romeo and Juliet knew they couldn't get marries but they did anyway and lied so that Juliet could get out of the house.. Two is that romeo lied and said that the ring was the reason he was going down to Juliet,s tomb. This leads to other betrayals like her fake death. | The vile of poison shows "One betrayal. leads to another" because Frair Lawrence gave this to Juliet to help her lie to her parents in order for her to be with Romeo. "Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distilling liquor drink thou off..." Act 4 Scene 1 Lines 95-96. This also leads to her fake death | The tomb represents the theme of "One betrayal. leads to another" because Juliet's death was, at first, a lie to her parents so that she could be with Romeo. The tomb. that was inherited from her ancestors, was also where Romeo killed himself. "Open the tomb; lay me with Juliet" Act 5 Scene 3 Line 73. This leads to Juliets real death. | The rope ladder displays "One betrayal. leads to another" because Juliet intended on sneaking Romeo into her room. This is betrayal because her parents dislike the Romeos family because of the feud so going behind there backs to do this is betraying her parents. "Within this hour my man shall be with thee and bring thee cords made like a tackled stair, which to the high topgallent of my joy." Act 2 Scene 4 Lines 191-193. This also leads to her lying to her parrents and her death. | One betrayal leads to another.

5: The Capulet and Montague crests symbolize all 3 themes. Given to both Romeo and Juliet by their feuding families, these show the differences between them and the feud that has been going on since before thy were born. This represents the theme of "Love conquers all" because it shows how two feuding families have children that fall in love which is ironic because of the condition of the families. Tis represents "One betrayal. leads to another" because of what Romeo and Juliet had to do to be together because of the differences in their families. And last but not least, this represents "A person's destiny is determined by the stars". Fate because it was this that bought Romeo and Juliet together and this is the reason they die which ends the feud between the Capulet's and Montague's. "Two households, both alike in dignity (in fair Verona, where we set our scene),From ancient grudge break to new mutiny..." Act 1 Scene 1 Lines 1-3. | Love, Fate, Betrayal
