2: Susan loves to read with a passion but she was dissatisfied with literature that was written for young adults.
3: After Hinton wrote the book The Outsiders she became very famous. | The publicity caused her to go through a three year writer’s block. Eventually her husband nipped it in the bud and made her write at least two pages a day in order for her to leave the house to go anywhere. This helped her overcome enormous obstacles as a writer.
4: S.E. Hinton became the first person to receive the YASD/SLJ Author Achievement Award, which was given by the Young Adult Services Division of the American Library Association and School Library Journal.
5: Hinton wrote in postmodernism time period, which is from 1950 to the present.

7: I choose S.E. Hinton because I am young adult and she gears her books toward my generation. I love reading The Outsiders which is probably her most famous book. It has a lot of action, family life, and true story's in life. She was portraying young adult lives in the book.
8: Realistic fiction for juveniles. This means they were not true stories but they were based off of a teenager’s life in this time period.
9: “Yeah, and this time it’s for good. That little broad was two-timin’ me again while I was in jail.” I love this passage because she shows exactly how they react. When you are reading The Outsiders you can see where these teens are coming from and there facial reaction.
10: In The Outsider one of the themes is on the animosity that exists between the Socs and the Greasers. Socs are also known as the rich kids from the west side of town. Then you have the Greasers, the underprivileged teenagers from the east side.
11: Hinton received a great deal of contrasting opinions, with one reviewer claiming it to be her best book and the next claiming it to be her last
