83: Belize | Catie and Brianna just before the Actun Tunichil Mukna cave tour. There were no cameras allowed, but it was an amazing trip and the cave, which is 3 miles deep, was believed to be the passageway to the underworld, Where Maya people went to make sacrifices to their gods. The remains of these sacrifices and rituals are almost entirely untouched and in the deepest chamber of the cave, a perfectly preserved teenage girl can be found totally calcified. This is the chamber of the crystal maiden.
