31: Our first family vacation-We left early on Sunday, a little later than planned, but that's to be expected! The drive to Kansas City went smoothly, even with the detours along I-29 from the summer flood. The kids were entertained with their new coloring activities & movies. We went straight to Kauffman Stadium for our first Royals game, we promised the kids cotton candy, so that's the first thing we did! It was very hot that day, but we enjoyed the game from several different seats, we did some sight-seeing & toured the gift shops. Beau's souvenir of choice was an inflatable bat & Aubrey picked a small stuffed Mickey Mouse for $24!! What? We should have looked at the price tag:) Following the game we checked in at the Holidy Inn Express, we had minor issues finding it because of construction, but it was a very nice hotel. We enjoyed having the swimming pool all to ourselves. We had dinner that evening at IHOP. We checked out on Monday morning & headed over to the Legends Mall for lunch at T-Rex. We all enjoyed this restaurant, the food was good & the sights were awe-inspiring! We checked in at Great Wolf Lodge that afternoon & played for hours in the water park, time after time, going down the waterslides!
32: We ordered pizza from the bar & grille at the lodge that night. We checked out of the lodge on Tuesday, but were able to enjoy the water park until close that day! What a great perk. Cabela's is right next door so we looked around for a bit, had lunch there & fed the ducks! We checked in at the Best Western, then it was back to the Great Wolf Lodge for more waterslides & swimming, we enjoyed the outdoor pool as well! After a long evening of playing in the water, there was no chance of a sit down meal, so we drove through McDonald's & went back to our room. Wednesday was Worlds of Fun day! It was sooooo hot, about a hundred degrees, but we decided to try it anyway...it started off a little rocky, as Aubrey was showing no interest in riding any rides! We finally got her to ride on one that all of us could go on & she loved it! We rode for a while & met the characters of Planet Snoopy & watched a show. Again, Aubrey wasn't too sure of the characters, but she eventually decided to give Snoopy a quick hug!
33: Walking back to the car that afternoon was miserable, drenched in sweat & everyone was crabby! The kids conked out immediately & had a nice nap on the way back to the hotel. We were looking forward to vegging that evening, so we placed an order with Papa John's & not too long after, Beau & daddy were wrestling around & Beau bumped his head on the table, yep, there was blood & a 5 hour trip to the ER followed! Nothing like spending your last night of vacation at the hospital in a strange city. We left there at 12:45 a.m., the kids hadn't eaten & were beyond exhausted, they behaved fairly well, all things considered! We thought about spending an extra day because of the incident, but the doctor said "no swimming." So, we got up on Thursday & made a quick stop back at Legends Mall before heading home. The county fair was going on back in Wahoo & we had that to look forward to! This vacation was a learning experience, most importantly, I think we learned that we ARE able to do things as a family & have fun doing it!
