2: EGYPT 1. Pharaohs rule as Kings - seen as a God 2. Nile River - Provides fertile land (when river overflows) 3. River flows south to north 4. Pyramids - tombs for Pharaohs 5. Mummification - Process of preserving the body for the afterlife.
4: MESOPOTAMIA 1. Land between 2 rivers (Tigris & Euphrates) fertile crescent. 2. Ziggurat - Holy Temple: Government building. 3. Polytheistic - Many Gods. 4. Religious controls government - Priest hears from God 5. City States always at war.
6: INDUS 1. Between Indus & Ganges rivers 2. Beginning of Hindu culture (polytheistic) 3. Planned cities on a grid system 4. Monsoons - Seasonal winds that bring rain or dry air. 5. Still cannot brake the language.
8: CHINA 1. Between Yellow (Haung he) & Yangtze rivers. 2. Mandate of Heaven - Ruler had divine approval (emperor). 3. Feudalism - King gives noble land, noble gives military service to the King. 4. Family is central - Ancestors bring blessings or curses. (Patriarchal - Families) polytheistic. 5. Technology - bronze, iron working, silk, roads & canals.
