BC: In conclusion the Aztec Empire was a well established one that lasted for hundreds of years and should have lasted longer.
The Aztecs conquered many lands but not for the area simply for its wealth. The structure of this economy was that a group of families elected a leader who would create schooling for the young ones, and make sure taxes were paid of them but also serve the council. The council was the group of elected leaders and they served the king alone. The council held a lot of power but it did not compare to the power of the king. The king, once elected would have to strip himself of his rich clothing and wear one piece of cloth for humility. This showed that the king was still one of the people. | Structure of Government
Land Controlled | The Aztecs had control over central Mexico. At their highest point they controlled from the gulf of Mexico to the Pacific ocean, from central Mexico to Guatemala. A lot of the land was a desert but there were great places to be. The climate in the region was very tropical. It was extremely humid on the coast but less so near the middle. The climate provided rain and run and was perfect for farming.
Infrastructure | Cities under the control of the king usually had a grid like pattern. The center though was for the palace. The city was symmetrical. The streets divided the city into suburbs which were connected by canals and roads. It would be very simple to find your way around which I think is what the Aztecs intended.
Job Specialization/ Social Division | Jobs were different depending on gender. After basic schooling the males learnt how to fish, and farm while the girls learnt how to cook and clean | There were three classes during the Aztec day. The top was shared by government officials, priests, and military leaders. The middle class consisted of commoners, soldiers farmers. The lower class contained slaves, prisoners, and peasants. Merchants made up there own class due to their constant travel.
Religion | Religion played a major role in Aztec daily life. They had hundreds of temples, infinite gods and had weekly ceremonies for sacrifices. On these days citizens presented song or plays in honor of the god. The Aztecs also believed that the sun god needed human blood to rise the sun and fight demons. The Aztecs created a sun stone containing the sun god in the middle the four ages around him and an outer ring of the 20 gods responsible for every day of the month
Acievements | Poetry was soo highly regarded to the extent that soldiers and military leaders found it to be the only practice worthy of their spare time. | The Aztecs were very innovative in their creation of the calender. The solar calender contained 18 months of 20 days and a five day period of unluckiness known as memontemi. If you add them up you will see that it makes 365 days. They also had a sacred calender that had 13 months of 20 days. Every 52 years these calenders began at the same time and there is a big celebration.
Trade | The Aztec people appreciated all natural elements they even used some for currency.Their main trade item was obsidian which was found all over their land in volcanoes. The Aztec had trade routes far into central America. They traded salt, gold, and cloth in exchange for jaguar skins, tropical bird feathers, rubber, cotton, chocolate and cacao beans. These items were used in many ways.
