S: the graveyard book
BC: thank you for reading my report :)
FC: the graveyard book | by neil gaiman and illustrated by dave mckean | report by bennett edwards
1: setting | Most of the story takes place in a graveyard over 16 years in a boy's life. The graveyard is in San Fransisco. Right when you enter the grave yard theres a big iron gate. And theres an angle with no head. The graveyard is now a nature reserve because its so old. Bod isn't allowed in town because the killer is out there. One chapter takes place in a middle school. The under world has a huge orange sun with zombies and graves.
2: characters | The main character of this story is Bod. Bod is short for nobody. (Strange name) Bod is very adventurous and brave. | Silas is Bod's guardian. He is half alive and half dead. His parents don't watch after him because they're ghosts so they're mostly asleep in they're graves.
3: Scarlet was Bods best friend when he was 5, but then her mom banned her from the graveyard. Later in the book, Bod and Scarlet met up again.scarlet is smart and she likes to read. | Jack is the person who is trying to kill Bod. because he is apart of an organization where every time they kill someone they get more power. He is trying to kill bod to finish what he started.
4: The Graveyard book is about Bod,whose family was murdered the night when the murder was in the house bod was one then so he escaped from his crib and walked out the front door. And walked into a graveyard. there were to ghosts who adopt him because they never had kids when they were alive. He was mostly token care by his guardian, Silas. Later he sees a girl in the graveyard he becomes good friends with. But later her mom bands her from the grave yard. Bod later starts school. There are two kids there that steal the young kids money so he stops them that almost got him arrested. The jack guy located Bod and tried to kill him but he failed. In the end Bod grows up and goes to explore the world.
5: The major problem in the book is that Bod is trying to not be found by the killer. It's resolved by the killer disappeared into a wall for all eternity. Early in the book Silas won"t let Bod out of the grave yard. They resolve it when Bod grows old enough to leave. | I believe the theme of this story is about how you always face some tough challenges throughout life. Bod had no family, but lots of people and ghosts helped him with the challenges.
6: Bod is the main character in this story. He is adventurous , and smart. His name is short for nobody. He survives in the graveyard by Silas bringing him food from outside the grave yard. Because he grew up in the graveyard he had the freedom of the graveyard so he could unlock any door in there. He also learned how to fade away like ghosts. Cool or what? At the beginning of the book Bod wasn't so smart, because he wasn't in school yet. In the middle of the book he was a trouble maker, because he snuck into town with out Silas's permission. At the end of the book Bod was all grown up and wanted to explore the world.
7: The most important scene would be the scene where Bod helped defeat Jack. Bod does not have to worry anymore about being killed. He was free to go out into the world. That is probably also the part with the most action.
8: If I was in this story I would want to be one of the ghost kids in the graveyard. I would be 11 years old. I will also be able to fade and go any where in the graveyard like Bod. I would be smart and kind. I would be brave and I'd have the name of Bennett.
9: I would help Bod work on his homework. He and I would be friends. He is the only kid in the graveyard my age.
10: Bennett and Bod are in the graveyard looking for all the letters of the alphabet on the gravestones. Bod said, "You find all the k's through z's. I'll find the a's through j's." A little girl comes up and syas "What are you doing?" Bod and Bennett stare at her and finally answer "What do you think" The girl looks at the two boys and suddenly she notices that one of the boys is disappearing. Bennett did his fading trick. Then she fainted. "Hey!" shouted Bod. "Bennett you have to teach me how to do that!".
