2: John Steinbeck was born in California in 1902. He later became a journalist and started writing his stories. The last years of his life were spent in New York and he was still writing stories.
3: La Paz is the setting of the story. The picture on the left is where a wealthy person would live in La Paz. The picture on the right is where Kino and his family would stay because they are poor.
4: Juana She is the mother of Coyotito and wife of Kino.
5: Kino He is the father of Coyotito and husband of Juana.
6: Coyotito He is the child of Kino and Juana.
7: The Doctor He is a spaniard from France that will not work unless you have money to pay him.
8: Chapter One The baby was stung by a scorpian. The village people surrounded Kino's hut. Juana and Kino took their baby to the doctor, but he refused to help them because they had no money.
9: Chapter Two Kino and Juana got in their canoe and paddled out to sea. Kino dove into the water in search for a pearl. Kino came up with a muscle, and he opened it. In the muscle was a pearl.
10: Chapter Three Everybody found out about Kino finding the pearl. The doctor pretended to cure the baby's illness. Somebody tried to steal the pearl, and Kino struck them with his Knife.
11: Chapter Four Kino took the pearl to the buyers, but he felt cheated. Kino took the pearl back to the hut, and is going to take it to the capital. Kino was attacked during the night, and was hurt badly.
12: Chapter Five Juana tried to throw the pearl back in the sea, but Kino stopped her. Kino was attacked again, and Kino Killed a man. The shadow men burnt down his house and put a hole in his canoe. Kion and his family stayed at his brother's home until the next night.
13: Chapter Six Kino and hes family left their town to go somewhere safe. Trackers followed them, and Kino killed them. Before Kino killed the man with the gun; the man shot towards the cave and hit the baby in the head. Kino and Juana went back to their town, and Kino threw the pearl back into the sea.
14: Theme Things are not what seem to be and can have an evil side.
