2: Mission Statement Union Varsity Pom is a program within the Athletic Department of Union Public Schools that helps young women achieve their highest potential through school and community involvement. The program teaches the six pillars of character - trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, caring, fairness, and citizenship - by providing school spirit at athletic and community events, promoting academic excellence, giving back to the community, and striving for team success at local, state and national dance competitions. In achieving these goals, Union Varsity Pom has adopted and follows this motto: "Be a winner, but stand for something. Always act with class and be humble." - John Madden.
3: Team Statement Our amazing coaches lead by example every day and are passionate about teaching us the importance of giving back. They have challenged us to live our community service theme of promoting healthy living by making healthy choices in our own lives, including giving up caffeine and limiting junk food. | Team Building Our theme for the year is Defying Gravity. It's about not accepting limits, but instead striving for what seems impossible. At a team building party last summer, we made a goal tree. On the trunk is our theme. The branches list our team goals and the leaves list personal goals for each team member.
