35: Reconstruction | Freedmans Bureau was were freed blacks and poor whites got food, medical care, shelter, and clothes. | Sharecropping was when a farmer let people have a portion of his land and when they harvested they would have to give him some crops instead of money

36: After Reconstruction | Life was hard for blacks. Every thing was so unequal they dirty water fountains, bathrooms, schools, life was just so unfair. They had to take literacy tests and poll taxes as well as sitting in the back of the bus. Blacks were treated with so much disrespect. This was a very depressing bad time in American history.

38: Civil Rights Movement | George Marshall and Thomas Wilson both wrote plans for world peace and both got the noble peace prize.

Byrd led a massive resistance and created pay as you go | Arthur Ashe was a author for social change and was the first black to win a major tennis championship | Douglas Wilder was the first black governor | Oliver Hill was an important lawyer for the Brown vs. Board of Education. | Linwood Holton was a governer that appointed more women and blacks in government than any other governer

40: 20th and 21st Centuries | Rural life was open farmland and in the country. | Urban life in the city. | Old systems of farming were no longer effective and crop prices were low. | People moved from rural to urban areas to look for more economic opportunities.
