1: Archipelago- is a sea or stretch of water containing of many islands. | Basin- a natural depression on the Earth's surface, typically containing water. | A | B
2: Canyon- A deep gorge, typically one with a river flowing through it. | C | Fact: The Grand Canyon's chasm is 277 miles long and 18 miles wide
3: Delta- a triangular tract of sediment deposited at the mouth of river. | D | E | Escarpment- A long steep slope one at the edge of a plateau or separated areas of land at different heights
4: F | Flood Plain- An area of low-lying ground adjacent to a river, formed mainly of a river sediments subjected to flooding
5: G | Glacier- A slow moving mass or river of ice formed by the accumulation and compaction of snow on mountains or near the poles | Fact: | Did you know that the Titanic got hit by a glacier causing the ship to sink
6: H | Highlands- areas of high mountainous lands | Islands- a piece of land surrounded by water | I | Fact: The Hawaii archipelago spans the distance of 1,523 making Hawaii the longest island chain in the world
8: Fjord- a long narrow, deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs | J
9: Lake- is a large body of water | K | Example: Lake Erie
11: L | Lagoon- a stretch of salt water separated by the sea by a low sandbank or coral reef
13: M | Marsh- an area of low lying land that is flooded in wet seasons or at hight tide.
14: N | Mountains- a large elevation of the Earth's surface abruptly from the surrounding level. | Example: Mt Everest
15: Oasis- a fertile spot in a desert where water is found. | O
16: Plain- a large flat area with few trees. | P
17: Q | Aquifer- a body of permeable rock that can contain or transmit ground water
18: River- a large natural stream flowing in a channel to the sea. | R | Sea- the expand of salt water that covers most of the Earth's surface and surrounds the land's masses. | S
20: T | Tundra- a vast, flat treeless arctic region of Europe, Asia,and North America which sub soil is frozen. | Plateau- an area of relatively level on high ground. | U
22: Valley- a low are of land between hills or mountains | V
23: W | Waterfall- a cascade of water falling from a height, formed wen a river or stream flows over a precipice or a steep incline.
25: Y | Geyser- a hot spring in which water intermittently boils, sending a tall column of hot water and steam into the air.
