BC: The End
FC: By: Amy A. | What kind of Tree is this?
Day 1: I sit and wonder what kind of tree is growing in my back yard? I study the tree and see all textures of the tree but it is hard to decide what kind of tree it is because it is winter and there are no leaves on the tree
I went out and observed the Tree back and the tree bark was rough and hard. It was kind of a gray tint and had brown also in it. The tree also had little holes in the bark where I believe bugs could live in it.
March 10: Noticed tree is finally getting buds!
Buds are small and round and when I broke a bud off it broke into little pieces
March 15: Days after a rain. Several buds fell off tree.
 March 20th
Buds are getting bigger. Weather is getting warmer. No wind to blow the buds off the tree today.
March 20th Leaves are starting to show. leaves are light color and an the size of the leaves are about 2 in. long.
April 1st: Leaves are getting thicker and are now about 3 in. long | Now I am beginning to realize what kind of tree this may be!
Leaf is getting Greener and have become more of a shape and look to it... the leaf also has little sharp edges all along the edges of the leaf, They call those Teeth on the Leafs
There were little berries also growing on the leaves. They were half a centimeter and were hard and green.
My first source is this tree book. its called Trees: Guide to Familiar American Trees! I really liked this book it had a lot of good information about tons of trees and it had many pictures so i could pick which tree is in the backyard.
This is my Second Source. This Book is called: Trees: East This book had lots of good information, so i used these books to learn about my tree
My Tree is a HackBerry Tree!
HACKBERRY TREE INFORMATION: -Related to the Elm Tree -Reaches the height of 40-80 ft. -if the tree is planted in healthy ground it will live for about 20 years. -pest are common for the Hack berry tree. There are chemicals to fix it but it will be OK without it - The Hack berry Tree is more likely to get a fungi problem which will show bumps and stops on the leaves, this is worse in the wet seasons.
This Map shows where the Hack Berry Tress are located around the United States.
