Before I was born you loved me. Before I was born you wanted me. Before I was born you planned for my life. Now that I am here, you say that I am the king of your heart, but you are the queen of my world. Kingsley

Mom didn't get pregnant in 2009, and you almost decided not to have me. Thank goodness you and Uncle JT had that talk about maybe him having a baby from my mom. He got you thinking and you decided to try for me again, Yeah! So, on April 19, 2010, you, Kyla, Sarah, and Katie loaded mom into the trailer and took mom back to Barefoot Farms in Salem, Illinois. It was about an hour and a half away. Mom was a very bad girl and broke out of the back of the trailer. She was scared I guess.

Doug Carter and Janet Harmon own Barefoot Farms. They took real good care of mom while she was there. She got lots and lots of shots. She had a uterine infection which is pretty common and makes it hard to get pregnant. | Dr. Mike Douglas did a great job and I was taken out of my dad, put in a box, taken to the farm, and put into my mom late in the evening when the doctor thought mom was ready. It was neat because you were there to watch along with JT and Sarah

18 days later, Dr. Olivia Rudolphie came to pregnancy check mom. Marcy used this as a teaching opportunity for the barn kids and the 4H kids. | Doctor Rudolphie thought she saw an embryo sack but she could not be 100% sure. She wanted to ultrasound again in two more weeks.

On May 22 another ultrasound revealed that mom was pregnant! | You were in shock. You kept saying " I can't believe it, I can't believe it" | Here is an ultrasound of me at 60 days. You guessed that I was a boy!

Mom had to take Regumate for 120 days to make sure she didn't loose me. It was a pain to have to give her 12cc twice a day but I was worth it! | For the next 10 months you and Uncle JT watched mom get bigger, and bigger, and bigger. A few times you even felt me move. One time was a big kick in mom's side. Sorry mom!

Watching and Waiting | waxing | You took good care of mom and watched for signs that I was growing and would be there soon. | Swollen legs. Poor mom! | Belly getting bigger and bigger!

While you were waiting, you spent a lot of time reading books about foaling. You called Jackie King to ask her about colostrum, Jackie and her husband Joe own Indian Hills Thoroughbred Farm and have tons of experience with foaling babies. Jackie invite you to visit and learn. After the first visit a friendship started. Jackie offered for me to be born on her farm where she has cameras in her stalls. You could even stay in her basement and watch on TV. It was the perfect idea! Especially since it was still cold and snowy the end of March. | Joe and Jackie King Indian Hills Thoroughbred Farm | You loved the Kings so much that you named me after them. How Cool!

April 8, 2011 I'm Finally Here!! | At 1:30 in the morning I was delivered after a very easy birth. Less than 10 minutes! I was 10 days late though!

From my first steps to my first drink of mother's milk, I was off to a good start! Uncle JT was there with us every step of the way. What a good friend! | The rest of this story is all about our adventures in the first year of my life.

First Doctor's Visit | DR. Knibb poked me, stuck me, and check me and mom out.

Our First Day Out in the Pasture 12 hours old

You and the King's watched over me really good for the first two weeks, but boys will be boys and I still got my first boo boo! I did not see that fence, ouch! I also had a pretty good case of diarrhea that you dealt with for 3 weeks. . I did not like you squirting that stuff in my mouth tough!! Yucky! | Watching me and mom on TV | Kissing my Boo Boo | My First Halter

Moving to Triangle H Farm | Two weeks after I was born, it was time to go back to Triangle H Farm where I would be growing up. Marcy came and got us in her big red trailer. You were nervous as usual, but mom and I hopped right on and down the road we went. We hopped off the trailer and spent our days on the playground until I was big enough for the big pasture with other horses.

I loved spending days with mom in the barn and the pasture. You would come and show me cool stuff like clippers, bridges, tarps, and balls. I'm a curious little guy who likes to play..especially if I can put it in my mouth!

In May, when I was just 2 month's old, I got to play with Brent Graef ! | Brent taught me and you how to lead and follow a feel. He kept saying "How 'd ya get to be so handsome?"

Sometimes I'm too curious and get myself into trouble! | Like the time in June when you went to New Orleans and I tried to climb in the hay feeder. I skinned my legs up and made you worry. Sorry! But.... I was really good on the wash rack for the first time for Kyla and JT!

These are the pictures you took for my registration papers when I was 4 months old. I'm so handsome!

Over the first 5 months of my life I learned to pick up my feet and be good for the ferrier, load on a trailer. take a bath, stand tied, and get a shave. You put tons of stuff on me like tarps, ropes, balls, beach toys, and blankets. I am a pretty good boy and you like it that I'm sweet, love people, and curious. In September, it was time to day goodbye to my mom. | You separated us into two stalls and I cried all night. When you let Twinkie come be with me I was fine. I just did not like to be alone. Mom cried for me for a while but she knew it was time. She was a great mom!

In November Dr. Hoover came and gelded me. It was more traumatic for you than me. I didn't feel a thing and I recovered like a champ!

In December you took me home to Long Branch and I met the ponies, Eclipse and Eddie. They were a bit mean to me but we did fine. You were worried about me being able to run and play enough so you decided in February to take me to Mission Stables where I could be in a pasture all winter with other boy horses to play with..

I'm very happy at Mission Stables. Everyone is very nice and takes really good care of me. Marissa and Uncle JT come to play with me and I'm just busy growing up and learning new things from time to time.

I love my naps in the mornings, taking baths on hot days, visits from friends, treats, and playing with my friends Remi, Bud, Cody, and O'Connell.

But the best part of this story is that my mom is now living with me at Mission Stables. It is so great to see her again every day. She is not excited about playing with me and spending time with me because I'm a little annoying to her, but I know she loves me and will be watching me grow up every day now! She's such a great mom!

Well, I'm one year old now and you say I'll always be your baby! I sure hope so. I love all the attention! Who knows where the future will take us and what we will do. I know I'll be fine with you taking care of me. We'll do it like you always say. Just one day at a time!

. | Thanks for reading my story. Come see me some time! Bring treats! Love Ya! Kingsley
