S: Our Honeymoon Bora Bora 11 - 18 August 2007

FC: Bora Bora August 2007 | Our Honeymoon

After all the excitement of the wedding was over, it was time to start the excitement of our honeymoon!! We had planned an 8 day holiday to Bora Bora ~ where we had the most wonderful relaxing time!

It was an early wake up on the Sunday morning to catch our flight! The limo arrived at 4:00am! It was one of the most anticipated trips we had ever been on! We couldn't wait to be sitting on the beach soaking up the Bora Bora sun!

After two seperate flights we finally arrived at Tahiti! There were a few men in a tahitian 'band' playing music when we were walking from the plane into the airport terminal to collect our baggage! Very tropical!! The agency that collected us from the airport to take us to our hotel put nice lei around our necks ~ it was a great start to our honeymoon! | TAHITI

The first thing Johnny did was jump into the spa bath! | Radisson, Tahiti

Band playing at the bar | That's only after one drink! | Relaxation at its best! | After our spa bath we ventured around the hotel to have a look around. It was about 12:00am Tahitian time! We ended up in the bar (surprise surprise!) | It took a little while to decide on which drink to have because the menu was unlike anything we had ever seen. We settled on the same drink! When it arrived, we discovered it was a vodka on the rocks | Once all is said and done! | We think it was the most expensive drink we had ever had ($30 for the two drinks - on the rocks!)

After a good nights sleep we jumped back into the spa!! (It was our honeymoon afterall!) We then took the hotel bus into the capital of Tahiti, Pepeete. We went through the markets, bought some fried chicken (that wasn't refrigerated!) and then went for coffee. Kristy was a little skeptical about the coffee so she had a sprite - it was Johnny who had the coffee - which happened to be the worst coffee he had ever had! Tahiti wasn't like we expected though - it was really dirty in the streets, but the beaches and hotels were exceptionally beautiful.

The flight to Bora Bora took under 2 hours, and the scenery was the most beautiful we had ever seen. There were reefs everywhere along the way, making the colours in the water spectacular. When we arrived at the Bora Bora airport we were suprised to find that it was on an island (motu) of its own, and the only way to the hotel was by power boat! So we collected our baggage and went to our power boat! Becuase it was dark by the time we arrived at our hotel, all the lights on the jetty were on so approaching it was pretty spectacular. We were taken straight to our overwater bungalow to put our things down - all we could say was WOW!! | After went back to our hotel, it was time to leave to the airport for our flight to Bora Bora! | We arrived at the Tahiti airport and were surprised to see a McDonalds (they are every where!). The funny thing was there were no normal things like Big Macs & fries!

Bah | After we finished admiring our overwater bungalow, we went to the restaurant for dinner. The menu was 5 star! We had entree, mains and desert! The mains are in the picture - Kristy had the prawns and Johnny had the venison. Of course there was a malibu and cola and rum and cola to wash it all down with!

Bedside Table | Hand Basin | Bath

The Overwater bungalow was the most romantic room that we had ever seen! When we arrived, the mood lights and music were on and the bed was 'turned down'! There was glass to look into the water on the bedside tables, beside the bath and the vanity and the coffee table could be slid open to feed the fish (below had a rock with coral forming that naturally atttacts the fish too)! | Coffee Table

On our first full day at Bora Bora we went on a half day island tour. We took a speed boat to the main island where we met our tour guide. Our first stop was the main town. | Road sign - to Everywhere! | Bora Bora Shops! | Nice Vantage Point! | Time for cuddles!

It was a little different than what we expected! There were'nt any restaurants or fine clothing shops, just some video shops and a convenience store (where Johnny found a packet of Tim Tams!) | Just Hanging Out! | Coconuts used to make Coconut Oil | View of the Main Island | Looking out from the Main Island

After returning from our half day tour we (as one could imagine) spent the rest of the day in our overwater bungalow! | We resurfaced at 5pm for Happy Hour (1/2 price cocktails!) After a couple of cocktails we went for dinner. During dinner there was a Tahitian dance show which was nice to see! We even had a photo with the dancers!

On our third day of our honeymoon we left our overwater bungalow for a full day shark feeding, lagoonarium and picnic tour. It was really fun, and the weather was glorious! We first went to the 'lagoonarium' where we snorkeled with the reef fish. The colours or the water and the fish were amazing. We then went to the shark feeding area, where we swam with the sharks while we were feeding them! (a little adventurous for a honeymoon!) We then had a picnic and returned to our hotel. | Newlyweds

Lagoonarium | On our way to the Lagoonarium | We arrived to the lagoonarium to find another tour operator throwing fish food at one of the people in his tour! It was pretty funny!

This is where we swam with the sharks | This was where we stopped to swim with the stingrays

After arriving safely back from our day tour, we had a little lay down and then decided we would play some mini golf! There was a strong breeze blowing, which made it a little cooler that afternoon. After our round of mini golf, it was time for Happy Hour!

After a couple of cocktails at Happy Hour, we went to the restaurant for dinner. When we approached the Maitre De, Kristy asked for the "most romantic table you have"! To our surprise, we were taken to a specially set up table with rose petals and hugh seats! We were the focal point of the night!

"In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours. | In all the world, there is no love for you like mine." Author: Maya Angelou

These pictures were taken from the deck of our overwater bungalow. | Sunrise on the fourth day of our honeymoon (and we were out of bed to see it!)

After breakfast we took the power boat from our motu to the main island and joined our day tour of Bora Bora. There were about six other people on the tour, so it was nice and cosy (those people were on their honeymoon too!).

Our first stop was a local textiles workshop. The man hand painted all the sorongs and sold them in his shop. We watched him for a few minutes and then bought Kristy a sorong (we must help the locals!)

After helping out the textile man we had morning tea. The view was to die for, but the method of cutting the food was questionable!

After we left the local textile shop we went up higher into the mountain and stopped at the cannons. These were used by the USA in World War I and then World War II (except that in WWII is was only a bluff!)

"Happiness is like a kiss... | You must share it to enjoy it.”

This photo was taken by the tour operator / driver (who introduced himself as 'George'!). On our way back down the mountail there were big muddy wheel tracks - so George took that opportunity to get out of the drivers seat (with the truck still in first gear) to take some happy snaps of the honeymooners!!

Bora Bora Pearl Company | The last stop on our day trip was the Bora Bora Pearl Company. As it was our honeymoon, it was only fitting that we bought some famous black pearls!

At this particular happy hour there was a cooking class! It was raw tuna in a tossed salad.

We all joined in making and eating the salad - it wasn't like anything we are used to but it was very nice all the same

 Helmet Dive

“Some pursue happiness - others create it.” | "Some people pursue happiness -

 we create it.”

It was surprising how quickly Happy Hour came around each day!! We were serinaded on this occassion by a tahitian duet!

Fish Food!! | This was our last dinner at the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort! (very sad)

On our second last day we had breakfast 'paddled' over to our overwater bungalow! It was very romantic and the food on it was scruptious!

ove is ... | L | Feeling confortable being oneself, whatever the mood!

This was our last full day on Bora Bora - we were leaving the next day. So we lounged around for most of it!

On our last night in Bora Bora we went to the famous Bloody Mary's restaurant. | Bloody

XXX Rated | The food was great (at least Kristy's was cooked!). it was definately a memorable experience - especially the bathrooms! | Mary's | ___ XXX

This was our last day on Bora Bora. We were trying to make it last as much as possible!

 The Last Breakfast!

 Time to say goodbye!

We arrived back to Tahiti in the late afternoon. We dropped our bags to the Radisson and caught the mini-bus to a restuarant called 'Le Belvedere'. The restaurant was at the highest point of Tahiti! The view was glorious, and the sunset was devine!

 Goodbye Tahiti
