H O W W E M E T | In 2008 We both auditioned for the spring play and got cast opposite each other- but the first day I remember seeing him was our first day of rehearsals. He was in the corner of the room talking with a friend and wearing his flannel shirt and work boots. I spent the rest of the day trying to think of anything that would strike up a conversation. | After coming back from the summer, I saw him unpacking his car and stopped to say hello.Joanna asked who he was, and I said "Just some boy I had a crush on." We both auditioned for 3 Sisters, and again got cast opposite-but this time there was a kiss. We went away for Thanksgiving (after he asked for my number) and I spent the whole time pining. The first time he saw me after we got back, he knew he had fallen for me. We watched a movie that night in the dorm and ate the cheese dip he had made for me over break. | A N D T H E N M E T A G A I N
O U R F I R S T DATE | I knew he could ballroom dance, and had asked him to teach me backstage a few times. One day, while we were all working in the theatre, I told a friend how I wanted to go to a ballroom I had heard about, hoping he'd overhear. He walked over to me a few minutes later."Would you want to go?" he asked nonchalantly. "Of course!" I said. | After our second night of ballroom dancing, we drove home and in the car told each other how we felt. We went to the diner, but weren't so happy we couldn't eat, so we drove to Messiah and sat by the Yellow Breeches, feet wet from the puddles we stepped in getting out of the car. | FIRST NIGHT AS A COUPLE
During Christmas break, I went to Josh's house for the first time and met his parents. We got there late that night and Gray had made a fire in the living room- it was the most cozy I've ever been. We played in the snow and enjoyed many fires in the stable, as well as pizza and my first, of many, taquitos.
 Great Falls
Josh took me to Great Falls that week. We left early in the morning to watch the sunrise. We climbed the rocks to a comfy place and watched the water, and then cleaned up exploded Hot Chocolate in my backpack. Josh liked dried mangoes, and then he hated them. We went back two more times while dating- it's been our spot.
Less than a month of dating, and Josh was off with a huge bag of Molasses cookies to Ireland for the month of January. We sent each other letters, some with presents... (Josh sent me sheep wool that he found in some field), and talked online as often as we could. I would rush to Messiah's library in hopes of catching him, and we'd chat until the internet in his hostel would crash, or the drunk man would rave about paint.
After three long weeks, he finally came back! And there was much catching up to do. But first, we had to dig out the new car and test its power... | Amanda and I got together most nights and counted down the days till our loves returned. We sent them a story with pictures, and Josh kept this one in his wallet until it finally fell apart a few years later.
........................................... | We spent our first Valentine's Day in Harrisburg by the river with a picnic: strawberry cream cheese bread, cream soda, and cashews. A man asked to take our picture...with his own camera. Then it started to sleet, so we went home, warmed with love and wet with ice. A few weeks later, he took me to the Shenandoah Valley. "Want some soda?"
Later on that Spring, Gray took us to New York to audition for a summer program. We didn't get in, but we did have a good time on the swings
I graduated that Spring of '09, and Josh stayed in Grantham for the summer. We watched Band of Brothers and ate lots of peanut m&m's and China One, and then he left for NTI. He came to visit on his fall break and it was heaven. | In March, I moved into the most lovely apartment above the Luther's garage. Josh came home on break for Easter, and that summer we donned our blacks and worked at Ruby Tuesday.
Martha's Vineyard is always the highlight of the summer. Getting up early and stopping for breakfast at Cracker Barrel, riding the ferry, takingJanie's boat for the day, and sitting in the living room and feeling the ocean breeze coming through the windows at night-- there's nothing like it.
 Harper's Ferry
Our date in Reston, where we feasted at Clyde's and then strolled through the plaza.
Fall 2010 we drove to Maine and celebrated Sarah's wedding, wearing our festive plaids most hours.
 Later, in New York....
The winter break before Josh's graduation, we went shopping for rings in Leesburg. April 1, 2011, we went for a stroll along the river at McCormick, walking down to the bridge that we had visited so many times. And there, with the water dancing by, Josh got on one knee and proposed. He is the man of my dreams; of course I said yes.
