S: Legend of the Polish Dragon
BC: The city grew up around the hill which was called Krakow, in honour of Krakus. When Krakus died, all the people gave him a magnificent burial, and erected a little hill on his tomb which you can see today.
FC: The legend of the Polish Dragon
1: A long time ago, on the Vistula river there was a small village inhabited by peaceful people.
2: Near this village there was Wawel Hill. Inside Wawel hill there was a deep cave.
3: No man had ever gone inside that cave, and some peoplee said that a terrible dragon lived there.
4: The young people of this village didn’t believe it and they wanted to check it.
5: The old people of this village said that they coudn't go there because if somebody entered it, all the town would suffer.
6: But the young people took some torches and went to the cave. They awoke the dragon. He was very angry because they had awaken him of his sleep.
7: From that day on, every day the dragon appeared at the village and he took a sheep or young virgins. People tried to kill the dragon, but they couldn’t.
8: In this village lived a shoemaker called Krakus.
9: He had a plan to kill the dragon. He killed one sheep and inside it he put yellow paste made of sulfur.
10: Then, he left the sheep near Wawel Hill. When the dragon arrived, he saw the sheep and he started to eat it.
11: The dragon had a terrible fire within him, and a terrible thirst.
12: It rushed to the Vistula River and started drinking. It drank and drank and could not stop.
13: It went on drinking till suddenly there was a great explosion, and the dragon exploded. All the people were very happy. Krakus was made ruler of the village, and they built a castle on Wawel Hill.
