FC: Hercules Archetype and the Heroic Cycle Alex Patel
1: Hercules, son of Zeus, is turned into a half god, half mortal by Hades, who plans on attacking Zeus. In order to return to Mount Olympus, Zeus tells Hercules he has to become a true hero and reclaim his lost immortality. With the help of friends Pegasus and Phil the Satyr, Hercules becomes a famous hero. He tries to defeat Hades and the Titans, but his rescue of Meg is what makes him a true hero.
2: Archetypal Characters | The Hero, Hercules Hercules defeats Hades, the lord of Hell and the Dead, and his Titans, with his super-strength and invulnerability as Hades tries to take over Zeus as the head of the world. Hercules also rescues Meg from the underworld after she was kidnapped by Hades. | The Mentor, Phil the Satyr | Phil the Satyr is Hercules' personal trainer, who helps Hercules become the most famous hero in ancient Greece.
3: The Threshold Guardian and Shape-shifter, Zeus | Father of Hercules, who decides to take him away from Mount Olympus and strip him of his immortality. He tells Hercules he can't return until he becomes a true hero. Zeus is the lord of the world. He is trying to keep Hercules from overtaking his power, much like his father, Creon, did to him.
4: The Shadow, Hades and the Titans | Hades wants to kill Zeus and take over the world, but he knows that his son Hercules can defeat him. So, he sends his minions, Pain and Panic, to kill him. After numerous failed attempts, he kidnaps Hercules' girlfriend, Meg. In the end, Hercules rescues Meg and banishes Hades.
5: The Hero Cycle | Call to Adventure | Begins when Hercules is taken away from Mount Olympus and striped of his immortality as a child by his father, Zeus. | Helpers | In order to become a true hero, Hercules has to train like one. With the help of his friends Pegasus and Phil the Satyr, Hercules becomes the true hero ancient Greece has needed.
6: Threshold Crossing with Enemies | When Hercules returns to Thebes, no one believes he is hero. That is until Hades starts throwing beasts and creatures against him. Once Hercules has defeated these enemies, the town sees him as a hero. | Supreme Test | When Hades realizes that he cannot stop Hercules from defending his little tests, he kidnaps Meg, who has become special to Hercules. Hercules has to rescue her from the underworld.
7: Reward Hercules makes a deal with Hades, so that if he rescues Meg, he would take her place in the underworld. As Hercules risks his life for Meg. he attains "God" status and begins to glow bright yellow. | Return After Hercules, Meg, Pegasus, and Phil meet up, they fly back to Mount Olympus where the Gods are waiting for Hercules. Hercules, however, chooses to remain on Earth. At the very end of the story, one of the Gods creates a constellation in the sky in honor of Hercules.
