You are now looking at the Radio Pharmacy at 2601 Welton Street. It was built in 1940. Our art teacher's for ice cream when he was a young boy.
Notice that the drugstore sign has been taken off and that the doors have been turned into windows. Our Art teacher, Coach D, found out that it is an apartment building.
Welcome to the Dean Heart House on the corner of Welton and 20th streets. It was SOOO big.--I wonder how many children lived there?
It is no longer a house. It is a big apartment building 10-20 stories high. It is very busy with lots of traffic.
Notice that this is Ebert School back in 1924. Look! Do you see how peaceful it must have been with no cars!
Now, there are more trees, more traffic lights. As you know, they have added a new section in the playground.
Here is the Luthe house. It is a two-story house. In front of it, in 1880 there were logs bordering the yard and a tree.
Great Grandparents | Parents | Grandparents | As you can see, the house was destroyed and turned into the Deep Rock Water Company. Unfortunately, the tree is gone!
Here is the George Kramer house of 1880. I wonder who lived in it? It was a big house with a fence and lots of trees.
Look at the house now! There is lots of remodeling. Do you see all the metal on the second floor?
Look! As you can see these are the La Veta Apartments from 1910. Don't you wonder who lived in the La Veta Apartments and how many people stayed there?
The apartments have become a parking lot! I wonder when and why they tore the apartments down!!
This is the Equity Savings Building. It is also called the Cousins Building. They had a big sign in 1908 that said "Equitu Savings." It was a bank.
Now the building has a Wells Fargo sign. If you look at the new Equity Saving building, you can see added details like outside lights.

Our photographic discovery of our city
It was a four story building called the Adams Hotel. It is shorter than today's Grand Hyatt. It was triangular building on the corner of California and 18th Street. Built in 1902.
It is now a 27-story building called the Grand Hyatt. It now has a parking garage. I wonder how many famous people have stayed here. For that matter, I wonder how many people are checked in right now? Are there any people staying there now that I know? Would it be fun to spend my birthday there? I wonder...
Welcome to the Ambassador Hotel. Notice the road in front of the hotel is dirt. Also, the entrance door has eight windows. The building was taken between 1926-1930.
Look at the windows. Notice how many have been added. THe sign that previously read "Ambassador Hotel" is gone because today it is a different hotel. Notice the building has "grown" by snout 25 stories. I wonder how the building will look in 10 years! I wonder if it will get taller in the next 100 years!
Welcome to the Colorado Building. Look at how the old building was uniquely shaped. The picture was taken in 1925. This building was built when our grandfathers and grandmothers were young people.
The new Colorado Building looks like a castle because of the decoration on top. The new building looks similar to the old building. It hosts a lot of new stores, including Jamba Juice. I wish I lived there so I could visit Jamba Juice everyday. I wonder why the building has not been torn down after all these years! Is it still used for the same purpose?
This is the Citizen's Mission Building. Notice that the building had less stories and taller windows. The old building was only three stories and was torn down many years ago. The sign is also gone because the building has been repurposed. Note how the cars look very different than they today. It was a place for people to go to get a room and some help if they were down on their luck.
The new building has 33 stories and is an apartment complex with parking. The new building has modern designs and is made of reflective materials. It is across the street from the Cheesecake Factory. Notice there are no cars parked in front of the building. One day, I would like to go to the top of the building to see what our city looks like from a bird's eye view.
This is the Railroad Building. We think it was used for the checking in and out of the trains. From the outside, the building looks deserted, but on the inside, it was certainly very busy with lots of people. There were shops and booths around the foundation. This picture was taken around 1880. Think about it--only 20 years before, we were fighting the Civil War.
Great Grandparents | Parents | Grandparents | Today, it has 26 stories. It was rebuilt and is now called Larimer Place. It is used as an apartment building. | It is interesting that Larimer Place grew in height, but shrunk inwidth. I think it''s sad that they took down all the shops that were there. I wonder how many people live there and what do they do?
The picture was taken sometime between 1900 and 1920. The President of the United States was William McKinley. | The Daily Mining Record Offices. The old building was small than the new building. There were no curtains in the old building. The building was used to house mining records for gold, silver, and other precious gems and minerals
Notice the new building has lots more windows. It looks more fancy than the old. Today is used for government offices. I wonder what the building is called today? I wonder if all the old mining records are still there?
THe Denver Leather Company This building was surprisingly small. The building on the left is still there, but the building on the right is now a road. The Leather Company is also gone.
The site is currently under construction. It will become a parking garage. I wonder why they replaced the Denver Leather Company with a parking structure? I'm happy to see the building on the left is still there. I wonder why they need more parking space? I'd like to know when it will be done!
