BC: Have A Nice Day (:

FC: " | Talen Mackinnon | Poetry Portfolio Glenn 3rd block

1: Table of contents Page 2-3 Self Respect Page 4-5 Language Arts Page 6-7 My Mother's Kitchen Page 8-9 Where I'm From | Words are weapons that can defeat any weapon known to man if they are in the hands of a individual willing to make a difference. -

2: We are | Sometimes I venture from the norm, sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I run through the paces with uniformity, sometimes I won’t. Depend on the fact I am me, I might even never be anyone else but. It really just depends on nothing but the feeling in my gut. I’m not (the average) every day, being regular doesn’t have a nice ring. And I ain’t anyone else but the man in the mirror; he and I are one thing. But I learned that being me isn’t good enough for them Because I am not the picture they wish to paint me, with colors of their brush. I’m not their canvas; I am God’s and my own work of art. My worth is not determined by a screaming auctioneer gleaming for warmth of his heart. No matter what extravagant or lowly dollar they raise to him in atone, I will always be the same person till they etch my name in stone. | Self Respect

4: Some call it homework Some call it dreams Paper with words Creativity bursting at the seams The story you write In your writing so fit Could be a book, a letter or whatever you pick The beauty it has with as our form of communication Writing is beautiful from the structure to the punctuation You might just be reading Sometimes you might be writing Cramps in your hand residing The art of our language is always so lovely From articulating the pronunciation to the written grammar All express its image with beautiful vocabulary Let sentences fill the paper with poems to essays Use your pathos to pull on me And your imagery to paint a picture Spelling of the enchanting words of feeling Language Arts is the art of written meaning Without we would have no medium of feeling So from near to far From sea to star Language Arts is the expression of who we are | Language Arts

6: My Mother's Kitchen | It is all too small, it is confining Yet the other room is twice as big and it’s just for dinning Not enough space to work and yet people are running through Red heads, blondies, and my very own brunette too! Visting my daughter’s family is crazy, especially in this room There goes the little one with his toy gun, boom boom How do they do it, this is one crazy house Living in such a small area Serving of a meal must be near Because they all just showed up hear Packed in ready for food with open hands The brunette strongly pushed them back Delaying delaying each hunger driven attack I was obvious this was her room and she wants it intact | The split, gone, in all different directions Each watching T.V. in their own different sections The brunette hasn’t even left the oven yet How does she deal with this without breaking a sweat? She smiled with each handout and pass of every plate Responded to with a face of gratitude for something heavenly great Table manners, forget them These are Mackinnons we are talking about It runs in their blood Even my very own has become one with the mud Lay a fresh dear dead in the forest And the wolves who devour it resemble them with much flourish Battling on another for every bite and nourish

7: What is this, do my eyes deceive me? They are all now acting so kind and freely Just because the food has gone so easy On the couch resting talking to one another Smile and giggles as innocent as any other Each one has changed from monster to angel Just because the absence at food at the table They were just animals now they are so civil Food in the brunette’s kitchen is that what turns them evil? What could be the reason, I never quite understood Until I took a bite of the meal and knew why I never would before

8: I am from the land far far away but closer than we speak, from ink with paper and electricity powering your critique. From where it is too far to go and too close for comfort. From the places that you can touch to the places you can feel. I am from there. I am from the other worldly and homely familiar. From the places that are foreign but we can always remember. From the feel of home we get when we in it and the thought of foreign when where there. I am from there. I am from the mountains, the river valleys, from the top of every tree to the each individual crack and crevice of the Earth. I am from there. I am from mapping out your thoughts and imagination, from him and her and us. From pen and paper but born of the head. From the seeker, the giver, and the receiver. I am from there. I am from the writing the thoughts in your head and writing the thoughts that follow you to bed. From the life you wish you lived to the life you once had. From the air you once breather and the air you never will. I am from there. From basic vocabulary with words straight and sweet to hamper loss, and lines to keep me inside to prevent the running astray and across. From the cheap laughs and the pun filled giggles. From the sweet truth to the decorated lie. I am from there. I am from the bible to the magazine. From a god who loves us all and a god who is never there at all. From a science to the brainless and the ones in between. From he who sees everyone and he who sees everything. I am from there. | Where I'm From | I am from the land far far away but closer than we speak, from ink with paper and electricity powering your critique. From where it is too far to go and too close for comfort. From the places that you can touch to the places you can feel. I am from there. I am from the other worldly and homely familiar. From a science to the brainless and the ones in between. From he who sees everyone and he who sees everything. I am from there.

9: I'm from your heart, grown with knowledge and power. From your eyes and what they have seen or wish to. From the nerves bouncing signals and sending commands. I am from there. From the moment ink touches paper, the stringing of words is written ,and the flipping of the pages, I am here and there, I am everywhere. From the words you speak to the thoughts you make. From the center of the campfire and the depths of the web. I am from there. I am from the insides of your brain, but moved to paper, and crossed into your eyes, only to where I started again. From the idea that runs like river water and the one that is dammed. From the beginning of creation to the end of time. I am from there. I am what you wish to find and the one you already found. I am pure magic and all science. I am good, evil, and the gray area within. I am powerful and weak. I am not of any known substance as well as thin as air, and you can see me if you close your eyes and stare. But no matter where I am from, what I am, or the place you may be. I am there inside you.
