 Love Stories

A couple became a family. This is their story.

Once upon a time, there was a lady named Pam. She was very sad because she wanted a baby, but she couldn't have one. Her sister and brother had babies. Her friends had babies. Her arms ached to hold a baby who was her own, a baby she wouldn't have to give back. BC, her husband wanted to make her happy, so he said he'd do whatever he could to make her smile.

Pam and BC decided they would adopt. They traveled to Washington, D.C. to talk to two ladies, Pat and Mary, at an agency called ASIA. The ladies said they would help them find just the right baby. In just a week, BC received a phone call at work! The perfect baby had been found. The baby was in Korea, but Pam and BC didn't know if it was a boy or a girl. This baby was in Korea with a foster mother.

BC and Pam drove all the way back to Washington, D.C. in the pouring rain. In the hotel room, they tried to decide on what to name the new baby. They decided if the baby was a boy, the name Zachary Clay was perfect because Zachary means "God has remembered." They went to the ASIA offices early and had to wait a whole hour. Finally, Mary opened the folder, and they saw a tiny, skinny baby in a blue outfit. They had a son! This was their best Christmas gift ever!

Six long weeks passed. Then BC, Pam, and Aunt Beth flew to D.C. to meet Zachary. Pam took small clothes because in his picture, Zachary looked long and very thin. BC was so nervous. He just wanted to sleep. Aunt Beth and Pam went out for ice cream. Finally it was time to go to the airport and wait for the plane to bring the baby! The plane was very late, and the four couples who waited were nervous and excited. They watched as at last the Northwest plane pulled up beside the window!

The plane was on the ground, but still no babies appeared! Old people, young people, teenagers, fat people, thin people, smiling people, and grumpy people came off the plane. Where were the babies? Many passengers lined up along the walls to watch as the babies they'd traveled with met their parents for the first time. Pam was as close to the doorway as she cold get. She peeked around the side to see Mrs. Kim carrying a very chubby baby dressed in blue. "That's can't be my baby. He's too big!" she thought. "Lusher baby! Lusher baby! said Mrs. Kim.

Pam and BC both rushed forward to meet their new son. He was round, bright-eyed, smiling, and PERFECT! Aunt Beth filmed it all! A family was complete at last, well almost. . .but that's another story.

After spending one sleepless night in Washington, they caught a plane back to Charleston, WV where everyone in the family gathered to welcome Zachary home to his huge loving forever family. The Beginning

 Carlee's Story

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Zachary. He was tired of building snowmen all alone. Zachary wanted a baby sister.

He asked his mommy for a sister. When he asked her, she said, "I'm too old." But Zachary begged and begged, so she finally said, "Okay."

Then they asked Daddy, but he said, "I'm too old." But they begged and begged, so he finally said, "Okay."

Next, they filled out stacks of papers called a dossier, spent lots of money, and then they waited for almost two years!

At long last, they traveled to China. On the third day in China, they were finally going to get Zachary's new sister. Daddy was the first to see the beautiful baby. "She looks just like her picture!" he exclaimed. The prettiest baby in the world was finally placed into the family's arms.

Daddy, Mommy, and Zachary were very happy to have their little Carlee Elizabeth, but she was very sad and confused. She only wanted Zachary or Daddy to hold her.

 I love my Zack!

Their little princess was always very grumpy or very sad, and she didn't like her new mommy much at all. But now. . .

I love you, not for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.
