 Happy 60th Birthday!
"You are never far from thought and always close to heart."
You Are Always in My Heart | To my lovely and courageous wife, Reaching 60 years is quite an achievement for a person who has been diagnosed with ALS disease at age 46. I really admire your courage, strength and especially your love for all your children. I know that you will have many more birthday celebrations in the future. Keep the spirit and enjoy watching your daily soaps on TV and also your Korean movies. I wish you a happy 60th birthday and hope that you will have a nice time with all the family and friends. Love you with all my heart. Your loving husband, Chee
 With love from the Johnsons!
Dear Mom, We are so happy we can be with you to celebrate the momentous occasion of your 60th birthday! In 60 years, you have achieved a lot - raised 3 kids with love, made a wonderful home for our family, and taught us all so much about bravery and patience and making the most out of life. Just think - you had so many varied experiences from your childhood in Mauritius, to learning to become an American during the hippy 70's, to raising kids in Hawaii, to embarking on many world travels! Thank you for giving so much of yourself to your family and friends and for bringing us together to celebrate your 60 years of life! With much love, Sherry & Jeremy
Happy 60th Birthday Mom! We love you so much and are so happy to spend this very special day with you. Your heart, courage, determination, and positive attitude are the attributes that we love and admire so much about you! There is no other Mom or Popo greater than you. We love you and look forward to spending many more birthdays with you. Love, Dustin, Leslie, & Hunter
"A mother's smile can brighten any moment, and a simple hug can put joy in your day. A mother's love will stay with you forever, and touch your life in every way."
Happy 60th birthday Mom! We are really happy that we could both come home and celebrate this special day with you. It means a lot to us to be able to spend this time with you even though it's only for a few days. We will definitely cherish spending your 60th birthday together. It doesn't seem that long ago that we celebrated your 50th birthday just a few weeks before my high school graduation. Time sure does fly by quickly and so many events have happened during this time that we were able to share together. Multiple graduations to attend for Dustin and I...actually three just for myself, weddings for Dustin and Sherry, you becoming a Popo with Hunter being born, many trips to Mauritius to spend time with family, many more weddings attended for family all over the world, and of course the boom of reality tv shows that you love to watch so much! We look forward to sharing many more wonderful events in the future together! We hope you enjoy the birthday dinner celebration that we all planned for you. There isn't a better feeling than spending this occasion with the people that love you so much! Love, Torrey & Johanna

15th April 2011 Rabat, Morocco Dear sister, How time flies for you are already sixty- only sixty. It’s an auspicious and wonderful milestone. What else can I say - for the big sixty is staring me in the eyes too. Seriously, on behalf of Genevieve and myself, I would like to wish you a happy 60th birthday and may many other happy returns come your way. I wish you all the best and all the happiness in the world. I cannot believe that we are getting that old... sorry I meant that young. Did they not say that people in their fifties and sixties are in the youth of their old age? I remember as if it was yesterday when we were both growing up together in that large family of ours- you as the fifth child and I the sixth in the family of eleven children- we were kind of bridging two generations of children. But the more was the merrier. We had fun and we had joy. All these sweet memories of childhood and the pains that came with it – and passing through all these different places and towns we called home. We came to this world in that little village of Terracine in Mauritius- a forlorn little outpost from nowhere- from which I derived, due to my tender age, no discernable memories of our early childhood. It was only after we moved on to the town of Belle Rose that my memories of you as my big sister started to take shape. There are so many fond memories of you as my big sister- just suffice it to say that I will always treasure them. In Belle Rose we went to school together with our sister Ahfan- how we walked together every day to that school run by sisters clad in black and white- who scared the hell out of us with their stories of the devil and sins and how doomed we always felt no matter how hard we tried. How we used to walk to school the three of us along that straight road, our plastic satchels swinging over our shoulders- how you always spoiled me in buying me all sort of goodies from the school street vendors to placate my occasional tantrums. Do you remember how we would dread and shiver in front of the confessional booth in which sat the austere French priest from Alsace with the ruddy face and long pointed grey beard? And how he would excoriate us all as he listened to our confessions? How we would struggle to wake up at four in the morning every Sunday in order to attend the five o’clock mass at the crack of dawn, yawning and dozing off during the whole mass while the priest was officiating in Latin.
I remember our first communions- how you permed up your hair to look good for the official picture. Do you remember our petty quarrels over matinee idols? I was an Elvis Presley fan and you an avid Cliff Richard fan. How you would pout and won’t talk to me for days whenever I nagged you about the superiority of Elvis Presley. You kept a little scrap book and every Sunday you would meticulously clip off the printed lyrics of Cliff Richard’s songs from the newspapers and pasted them in your bulging scrap book. And that scrap book- you would keep it as a precious treasure. Do you remember when you used to take me to the movies at Cinema Hall in Rose-Hill? – whose roof leaked, whenever it rained hard. Thanks to you I saw many movies- “Come September” by Rock Hudson and the biopic by Rome Schneider “Sissi Empress” and the sequels. I could go on and on and write pages about your sixty years and would never end and still will not do complete justice to them. I just wanted to reminisce about a few of our childhood memories for this is how I best remember you. In my mind I still remember the young girl and the big sister that you have always been to me. Thanks for everything you have done for me and see you soon on the 5th of May in Maui. Happy 60th birthday!! Love Pierrot
Dear Jocelyne, Many Happy Returns on your 60th birthday. Turning 60 is just great. It's a blessing to be surrounded by a loving husband, caring children & family AND especially genius grandchild, Hunter. Unbelievable how time flies. You are already in the club of what we call here 'Troisieme Age' If you were still in Mauritius, you would have been entitled to the monthly 'pension vieillesse':! Now we don't consider ourselves 'vieille' at sixty. Not only are we young in heart and mind, we are young in appearance too! You, with your lovely skin 'porcelaine' - not even one wrinkle!! Joce, although we won't be at your side during this very special occasion, our thoughts will be with you on that day. Have fun with all around you and May God bless you always, Love, Harold & Yan. P.S. Oliver sends you his warmest wishes.
 Always in my heart
