1: His life was not stereotyped. When he was 13 years old, his father passed away. At that early age he took the responsibilities of his family.
2: It was a large family with 7 siblings. While boys of his age were still enjoying their teens, he had the burden of responsibility to provide the support and stewardship to his family.
4: He helped his mother run the family transportation business while attending high school.
5: He had to overcome many obstacles to succeed in his studies.
6: Unlike others , he did not break down or skip school; he was focused in life to get a good education.
7: He completed high school with distinction and received scholarship.
8: He Joined MC College at Sylhet. It was far from home so he lived in the college hostel.
9: He had to save money from his scholarship to support his family.
10: On completion of college, he joined `Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology ' to study Civil Engineering.
12: In 1972 he received a scholarship from Dutch government to do post graduate studies at Delft university
14: After graduating, he moved to UK and joined Halcrow: a civil engineering company.
15: He worked for Halcrow for 30 years.
16: He was the Regional Managing Director for Asia 16 years
17: During this time, he was involved in some of the biggest civil engineering projects in Asia:such as Airports(Kualalumpur),Bridges(Jamuna Bridge.)etc.
18: As a recognition for his distinguish service in the infrastructure development in the Region, he was honored with an OBE by her majesty the Queen Elizabeth II.
20: He never takes pride of his success; instead, he gives all the credit for his success to his wife Tarefa Ahmed with whom he is happily married for forty years.
21: He is not only successful in his education or professional careerer, he is also a very successful father and husband.
