2: August 24, 2010 / Walter Reed Army Medical Center While in the hospital, Doc was awarded his Purple Heart Medal by the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, General Amos. The ear phones are not from an iPod but his hearing aids. His ear drums have since been repaired and he no longer needs the aids.
3: March 2010 / Bethesda, MD A mere six months after he was injured, Jay stood for the first time on prosthetics with feet that flex like a human foot, enabling him to get one step closer to using legs with knees.
4: February 24, 2011 Aneu Bistro & Wine Bar | Jon Kane organized a committee to raise money to aid Jay in his recovery. Former Eagles coach, Dick Vermeil hosted a wine tasting on February 24 at Aneu Bistro & Wine Bar - an event that raised needed funds for Corpsman Raffetto and his family.
6: July 14, 2011 / Washington, D.C. Jay and Emily are congratulated by Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert during the third annual Safe Harbor Awards ceremony. 7: September 3, 2011 / Phoenixville, PA Jay and Emily renewed their vows before a crowd of 160 family and friends at the Columbia Station in Phoenixville.
8: October 28, 2011 / Washington, D.C. Jay was honored at a special dinner, co-chaired by Gen. Peter Pace, USMC (Ret.), that took place at the National Archives which assembled military leaders from the United States and Italy and celebrated the bravery and commitment to freedom of American and Italian military forces.
9: October 29, 2011 / Washington, D.C. Jay was honored at the National Italian American Federation dinner as a special guest of federation president and Pepper Hamilton Partner Joe DelRaso. Dick Telling guests of the, Del Raso thanked legendary NFL coach Dick Vermeil, who was on the dais, and others for their commitment to helping young veterans, then brought guests to their feet in applause for veterans and wounded warriors present at the Gala. “You have our heartfelt thanks for your service and sacrifice for our nation,” he said, Gen. 10: November 11, 2011 / Washington, D.C. The Wounded Warrior Experience, put on by the American Veterans Center and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Bret Baier from Fox News interviewed Jay Army Captain Ryan Kules and Corpsman James Raffetto we’re two of the wounded veterans interviewed and they we’re both amazing. Kules lost a leg and an arm while serving in Iraq
11: December 5, 2011 / Oahu, Hawaii Team X-T.R.E.M.E. partners with Sky Dive Hawaii to provide an unforgettable adrenaline filled experience for Jay and Emily. Skydiving and surfing was part of an adventure filled week in Hawaii leading up to Team X-T.R.E.M.E.'s Xterra World Championship 21K Trail Run of which Doc Raffetto was the honoree.
