1: laughter is an instant vacation | 'How time flies,' as the saying goes! It is hard to believe that The Zone at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta has been open for nearly three years. What a wonderful time it has been! We are so thankful, in so many ways, for this incredibly generous gift. The gift was first given to us by you - Teammates for Kids. Now, we are able to turn around and give that gift to our patients and families daily. For that we thank you. Being in the hospital means different challenges for every family, every day. The Zone is a place where patients can come and forget about those challenges for a bit and instead concentrate on a beautiful stained glass art project, play a spirited game of air hockey or simply relax in the theater with a great comedy. In each case there are smiles and sighs of relief. There are tears of joy, words of encouragement and countless hugs of gratitude. We look forward to serving our patients and families for many years to come through your gift of the Zone. Thank you for making a difference, The Zone Staff

12: Doc's Story | Devonte Yarborough, affectionately called "Doc" at Children's at Scottish Rite, is an exceptional person. After being diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2010, he began treatment by having his right leg amputated just above the knee. Despite treatment, Doc always has a positive attitude, and his infectious smile spreads through the Zone every time he visits. In fact, he recently celebrated his 18th birthday in the Zone with a surprise visit from a WNBA player and all of his favorite staff members.

14: Madison's Story | Madison Baxter, a cystic fibrosis patient, has been a fan of the Zone ever since her first visit during the grand opening in 2009. She and her sister, also a patient, spend countless hours in the Zone during each admission. Some of their favorite activities are holiday parties, "girly" parties and movie nights. Although being in the hospital isn't ideal, it's a regular part of Madison's life. Time spent in the Zone makes each admission more fun and helps the time pass quickly. Madison eagerly anticipates the delivery of the weekly schedule so she knows what fun things are planned in the Zone.
16: Aidyn's Story | Written by Dora Reid I can't tell you how much the Zone means to me and my family. We have spent almost 2 1/2 years in the hospital with our 3 year old, Aidyn. If it were not for the Zone and the staff there, I don't know if we would have made it with our sanity. This is a place where patients and their families can be themselves and get away, even for just a few minutes, from the hospital life and just be themselves. We love all of the things that you can do in the Zone along with the different organizations that volunteer to come be with all the wonderful kids. I want to Thank You from the bottom of my heart for giving us a peaceful place to be ourselves and a wonderful staff to put up with us all.
