FC: 2010 | Roth Family | Alaskan | Adventure
This book is dedicated to Oma, a world traveler who dreamed of & saved for a cruise for the whole family. Thanks Oma!
Vancouver was the first stop for the Roth family Alaskan adventure. Our Holland America ship left from Canada Place at 5 p.m. Day One - July 3
On board Holland America's Zuiderdam, cruising the Inside Passage. Day Two - July 4 | It didn't take long for the cousins to find the pool!
One of our favorite places on the ship was the Explorer's Lounge and Coffee Bar, especially at 3 a.m.! Day 3 - July 5
We had the privilege of cruisng Tracy Arm Glocier. It was a very quiet & peaceful place. Day Three - July 5 | Tracy Arm Glacier
Skagway, Alaska Day 4 - July 6 | Skagway is where we boarded the train that took us through the White Pass, part of the Klondike Trail. It was very foggy, so we didn't see much on the ride.
On the Road with Holland America | Day 4 - July 6 On the bus to Whitehorse, Yukon with a stop in Carcross.
Uncommon Journeys In the Yukon | Day 5 July 7 This was a favorite place for the kids!
Day 5 - July 7 This was a packed day with a stop at Uncommon Journeys in the morning, Haines at lunch and ending in Beaver Creek.
This was the most beautiful day of the trip. The Alaska-Canada highway between Whitehorse and Beaver Creek was breathtaking. Day Five - July 7
A great spot to skip rocks ... a place we would love to return to and spend the time soaking in the beauty. | The perfect spot for photos.
More beautiful sights along the Alaska-Canada highway. We spotted some dall sheep, but they looked more like rocks in the distance.
The Beaver Creek Song To the tune of Do Your Ears Hang Low Does your tour bus go? Does it wobble to and fro? Has it got a big wheel? Has it fallen in a hole? Have you seen that sheep-like boulder? Or the black bear on the shoulder? Does your tour bus go? To the Yukon Show, in Beaver Creek we go. Bumping down the road, 44 of us in tow. Parker lies to us, about stories on the bus, but that's fine with us! There are mountains to the left, and mountains to the right, we're looking out the window for some wildlife! We're full of fiber brownies and too much to drink. If we don't get our paper, it will really stink! It's the place to go when you're going Yukon-Ho. Unless you gotta go, then you REALLY gotta go, but if skies of blue you seek, or a pretty mountain peak, It's in Beaver Creek!
After a packed day of sightseeing, we landed in Beaver Creek in time for dinner and a show. Day Five - July 7 | The Yukon Dinner Show in Beaver Creek
Going to FairbanksDay 6 - July 8 | This was a long day on the road. We stopped at Rika's Roadhouse, the Alaskan Pipeline and settled in to our hotel in Fairbanks in the evening.
Sternwheeler Discovery Tour | Day 7 July 9 The boat made a stop where we learned about native culture.
Gold Dredge No. 8 | Day 7 - July 9 Another favorite place for the kids. Everyone brought home a small amount of gold.
Day 8 - July 10 We rode the McKinley Explorer from Fairbonks to Denali - a beautiful ride and a fun way to travel.
Denali National Park - We were officially among the majority who do not see Mt. McKinley. Guess we'll have to go back! Day 9 - July 11
Denali National Park Day 9 - July 11 | We had the opportunity to tour Denali National Park and learn about its history.
