S: Paradise Island, Bahamas January 2011
FC: Lang Family Trip Atlantis Resort, Bahamas January 11-15, 2011
We took a shuttle to our hotel, the driver took the ''long' way to avoid traffic, it was great because we were able to see where the 'locals' live, go to school and shop! | We left St. Paul Airport at around 8:00AM. We were slightly delayed because of a small hiccup,-Frank, Elaine & Tony had forgot their passport! We were able to get it mailed to the resort to not miss our flight. It made a great vacation story!
We stayed at 'The Cove' Hotel, its on Paradise Island, Bahamas and is also apart of the 'Atlantis Resort' compound.
The Bedor Family! | The Hotel had beautiful designs and artwork. Also much of it was open air style, with outdoor ponds and walkways.
A view of the beach from our room.
An example of the outdoor walkway & architecture
Tom standing in front of the main Atlantis Resort.
After we checked into our hotel rooms and changed into warmer weather clothes, Tom and I decided to explore the grounds, which include a casino, multiple pools, water rides and many aquiriums, that hold sharks, sting rays and ocean wild life!
We found are way to the 'Marina Village', which held beautiful boats and a great walkway with outdoor shops and Restaurants. We stopped for an appetizer and some local beer, 'Kalik'. Although by the end of the trip we had a different local beer favorite 'Sands'.
Our Hotel room was great, with a separate sleeping and living area, as well as a HUGE bath with separate tub, shower and sinks!!
The first night we all @ went to dinner at Seafire, Thanks to the Bedor family! The meal was fabulous, with great steaks and company.’! Afterwards we all stopped at the local candy store in Marine Village to grab something sweet. We also went with Tony back to the hotel bar for some local beer!
On the second day we went to the 'Market Place' for a buffet breakfast, the wait staff thought Tom was a famous TV person and were all wanting to shake his hand, we had to let them down. Tom went for a walk on the beach and I went to sit at The Cove's adult pool, where I ran into Tony and Dan soaking up the sun and listening to the DJ. When Tom got back we all went to another pool at the resort where Tom, Dan and Caitlin could try some of the 'Rapid River'’ride before going to what most are calling the highlight of the trip--DOLPHIN CAY-we swam with the dolphins. Some interesting facts we learned: Dolphins exfoliate their skin every two hours (they were amazingly soft). They don't use teeth for anything but making marks on other dolphins in playful fun. Their sounds only come from their blow hole. They have hair when they are born and four hours after they are born it all falls off when they begin nursing.

On the second night we went to dinner at MESA, a Bobby Flay Restaurant . The food was good, Tom had Red Snapper and I had a Pork Tenderloin. We stayed a long while and chatted, then moved the party to a bar at the Atlantis to smoke cigars and have cocktails.
On the 3rd day we walked across the street to a non-resort restaurant named 'Anthony's' for breakfast. After we decided to walk the Atlantis underwater aquarium. The fish were amazing. After that we changed into our swimsuits and found a cove at the resort to dip are feet into and have a frosty drink.!
At night the entire family went to dinner at Carmines, this is a ‘family style’ Italian restaurant. You can imagine getting all the Lang's to agree on dishes to share, but we survived. After dinner we all headed to the casino, where Frank was on a 'roll'. After that the cousins decided to go to the club. We had a great time dancing and people watching.
On the 4th day it was pretty chilly. We got up and had breakfast at the adult pool then walked around the property. We went to happy hour at the hotel bar before dinner that night.
The last night we all went to the Bohemian Club. Thanks to Tim Doyle we all had a fabulous dinner. It was a great end to a fabulous trip.
