BC: Crazy House Printing

FC: E U R O P E 2 0 1 1

We started our adventure in Rome. Crown Plaza was our home. No time was wasted, after a brief rest, we hit the streets. Such a amazing historic city, we were speechless!

Many churches and sights to see and of course a lot of gelato to eat, yum. | Victor Emmanuel Monument-huge!

The first night we stumbled on the Pantheon. Built around AD118, is one of Europe's best-preserved ancient buildings. Musicians perform here, making the place even more magical. We even got a full moon, as if it wasn't cool enough.

The huge Trevi Fountain was built in 1453. It is so beautiful in the evening. First Pizza in Rome together. | Tiny Tie Shop | Cute Boutique | Priests shop

The Colosseum is much larger than we expected. Built in Ad70! 73,000 people would fit inside! Wow. | Colosseum is in the distance.

Lower left: site of the chariot races. Lower right, where Peter and possibly Paul were imprisoned. Hard to believe.

National Museum. Many beautiful works of art. Old coins. We are becoming art lovers!

Galleria Borghese Estate that now houses beautiful works of art. Bernini's Apollo and Daphne our favorite. | Spanish Steps

Caesar's House | Built 3000 yrs. ago the Forum was the heart of the Roman Empire for 1000 yrs. Paul, Peter many Caesars walked these very streets

St. Peters Square. Building started in 1506 and continued for 300 years. A true highlight was seeing the Sistine Chapel, which is just behind this church. No pictures allowed, Beautiful. | Inside St. Peters | Pieta by Michelangelo

To the left is the entrance to the Vatican Museum. Without a ticket, it is a long wait. Many beautiful works of art. | Room after room of amazing works. The middle picture above is a ceiling.

We took a train two hours north to the hill town, Assisi. This was home to St. Francis. He became a saint in 1228. In the distance on the hilltop is a castle. People still live and work here. We so enjoyed our one day in this peaceful place.

ASSISI | Sweets | Good bye Assisi | St. Francis Church

Bus stop | Piazza Navona (Rome) | No rules parking! | Artist pants | Best pizza ever!

 E

On to Zurich. The 7 hour train trip through the alps was amazing. No napping as there was too much to see. A most relaxing way to see so much scenery. Marshall met us in Zurich on his way home from work and we took another short train ride to their home.

Lake Zurich - amazing view from Rachael and Marshalls home | Kitchen | Kiddos | To the train

Waiting to start their annual walk through the woods with their school. They are carrying lite, carved turnips. This is to celebrate Richterswil | Hey Anna, I can't wait!

We took a train to this town for the annual Richterswil parade. Above are floats full of lit, carved turnips. The whole town is lit up. Great local food to top it off.

We went for a little walk and got lost not realizing there are two sets of train tracks. If we had followed the church below as a landmark, we would have found our way, hmmm there is a message there. | This is a steep walk after a long day of work or if you are lost.

Making HUGE bubbles! | Science Museum fun, we learned as much as Anna and Matthew!

Cog wheel train | This will be sooo fun | Very old local town | Going up

This is the view we all had as we took the steepest cog wheel train up a mountain (7000 ft.). High in the alps, we could see 73 mountain summits in the distance. The white below is actually clouds! This was an amazing day, such a highlight in our trip, and we sharing it with our family, made it even more special!

Happy family ready for a hike in the alps. It was warmer up there than in the city below!

We are ready for a hour long hike. Rachael was the photographer for the group, but we manage to get one of her. | Marshall encouraged us on..."No, we must get to the end", who is that nature man?

Such a great picture. Anna and Matthew trooped right along. Notice how easy it would be to fall down the mountain (it was really steep outside the fence).

 Here they come

I think we all felt "on top of the world". Such a fun day, beautiful scenery, fun and memories shared together as a family. Priceless!

Matthew and Anna enjoyed the beautiful music as much as we did. Truly a "Ricola moment".

To top the day in the clouds off, we enjoyed a true Swiss meal. Such a once in a lifetime moment.

Does it get any better? | Cog Wheel Train | People walked up! | Happy bird

Cog Wheel Train up....Cable Car down! Notice the small church. The launch of the cable car was quite scary!

PARIS! Our credit cards weren't working. A short prayer, "Jesus help us!", we looked up and were standing in front of American Express. We needed to find our bus stop for our ride back to the airport, it was right in front of the American Express. PTL

We had five hours to see Paris..

We made it. It is massive. We have to go back and ride up to the top!

 Bride

We could have taken the subway around town, but we didn't want to miss anything. Every corner held a new memory. We crossed our fingers that we could find our way back to the hotel. Paris streets follow no straight lines. I think we will have to go back.

Paris apartments,, flower shops, the special Arch de Triumph

We made our way back. Carousel to the Eiffel Tower!
