S: Our Canadian Maritime Adventure

FC: Adventures in Canada-eh | May 13-21 2011 | New Brunswick Nova Scotia Prince Edward Island Portland, Maine | Vive L'Acadie!

Fort Anne | we made it | The Englishman and the Acadian; it's like a modern day West Side Story, only no singing or dancing. | Not only a red shirt, but a red shirt with a gun on it!

The Queen Anne Inn | The Sights of Nova Scotia | The Ferry that wasn't | Highlight: Grabbing sausage, kraut, and potato salad from the German bakery and driving out to the western part of Nova Scotia in the pouring rain. Kris geeking out over the sausage, the water wall that came up when he passed a car, and driving Otto on the washed out road | Funny memory: Driving out to the ferry in hopes of getting to the far end of NS, but realizing neither of us had Canadian cash. Only Kris realizing he had a $20 in his pocket too late.

L'Acadie! | Jenn rediscovering her Acadian roots, including the ancestral homeland. AKA: a visitor center | Funny moment: meeting the Melanson in the really cheesy Acadian deportation video. The tour guide at Grand Pre who was mortified Jenn didn't speak French and was with an anglo instead of "her own people".

Charlottetown, PEI | we made it | Delicious breakfasts and great advice from Jay and Carol at the Elmwood Heritage Inn | Charlottetown grew on us eventually

Driving Around PEI | Discovering we have a mutual appreciation/fascination with tacky roadside attractions. Including this sad abandoned place. I envision some pretty fantastic road trips in our future! Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum anyone?

Driving around PEI discovering wind farms, solar powered wineries, and a distillery run by ex-pat Americans where Kris developed an appreciation for potato vodka.

Thank you for such an amazing vacation filled with wonderful memories I will cherish, despite the whole English oppression of Acadians part. ;-)

 Overlooking Newfoundland Strait

washing machines here! | A Day at the Beach

Puffed Sleeves!!! | Green Gables | Lover's Lane | Jenn's stage 4.5 geek out with aftershocks! Highlight: the squeal Jenn made when she saw Green Gables. | Had to get a photo in Lover's Lane!

Our Room at the Portland Heritage Harbor Hotel | Creepiest Shower Ever!!

Scenes from the PortlandDuck Tour | Just randomly came upon the duck boat with room left. So glad we did it! Plus our tour guide was a fellow librarian!

Being Goofy | Such a great random day in Portland. Highlight was definitely the Cryptozoology museum!

May 21, 2011 Worst. Rapture. Ever! | Who is Kris pointing to? Can't be Jenn!

Kris' stage 3 food geek out. Over what? sausage, of course! | Kris wouldn't even stop to entertain getting a rapture burger and $5 zombie. No, he had other plans.

Portland Head Light | Quick 10min stop here because it was WINDY and Brrr!!

 Kris | Jenn
