BC: Mom, I had such a wonderful time with you in Chicago! It truly was a trip of a lifetime! I will never forget the laughs and smiles and everything we did that made this time together priceless. 1: How it all started . . . March 2010 Thoughts begin of what to get mom for Mother's Day ...COACH purse? ...Spa treatment? ...perhaps a Cruise??? April 2010 1:30AM While spending time with my girls (Carrie, Sam, Char, and Miranda) I saw a preview for the 2010 "Just for Laughs" Comedy Festival in Chicago 1:31AM Saw that Ellen Degeneres was going to be there!(Mom's favorite!) 1:32AM On the computer looking for tickets! 1:40AM Found TONS but they are pretty expensive 1:45AM Thinking and calculating...could I really do this for her?? Could I afford it? Next Day I asked mom which would she prefer..a cruise or a trip to Chicago to see Ellen? She chose Chicago! Everyday after Searched for the best deals on airfare, hotel, and Ellen tickets. Made flight reservations and new it was official! We're going to Chicago mom!!
2: Chicago Trip Intinerary! June 15 Newberry to Charlotte 2:30AM: Leave mom's house for the 2 hour drive to Charlotte 6:30AM: flight to Atlanta, GA 45 minute layover, and then off to CHICAGO! 9:43AM: Arrive in Chicago 11:30AM: Find our hotel and check in early 12:00PM-Until: Spend the day getting to know the city June 16, 17, 18 CHICAGO Plan to see the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, the John Hancock Tower, the Magnificent Mile, and the Navy Pier June 18 Chicago to Charlotte 7:30PM: Flight from Midway Airport Chicago to Charlotte, NC 12:15AM (Saturday morning): Arrive in Charlotte | With just a few weeks to plan our trip, I got crackin'! Google and I started with booking accommodations and figuring out where to go. | Since we didn't know what to expect in Chicago we decided to take it day by day. We knew the main activites we wanted to do but didn't plan an intinerary. Below is an outline of what the plans were. | Here we go!!! | This is how memories are made!!!
3: It took us seven hours to get to Chicago, but it was SO worth it! Mom had her first plane ride and it was such a great experience....she couldn't peel her eyes off the window! Although we just got started, I can tell already this trip is going to be SO special!
4: Oh, Rosemont. You began to feel like home! | Chicago, IL We arrived at Chicago's Midway Airport; a whopping hour and a half train ride to our hotel! We decided to skip the cab, save some money, and learn Chicago's transit system right away!! We actually really enjoyed it! | Our connection to the Blue Line | "The doors are now closing" | "This is the Blue Line train to O'Hare" | This is Montrose!" | "Next stop, Clark/Lake"

9: One of our best memories from the trip! Jokester in black offered to take a picture and then "ran" with the camera! Finally got one of us and a great shot of the group. Good people from Ohio...made our night! | that's him!
10: Chicago is so beautiful! The city takes such pride in their landscaping. The grass is always so green and the flowers are gorgeous!

24: The spectacular... | Buckingham Fountain | After a fantastic day, we rushed over to see the fountain before the last lights show. We made it in plenty of time and it was the most perfect ending to the most perfect day! | We may look a little rough, but wow it was a great day!

26: Our wonderful trip to Chicago has come to and end! (We were suppose to leave at 7:45PM on Friday, June 18th. However, there was severe weather and we missed our flight! We spent hours traveling back and forth on the train trying to get home from Chicago. Unfortunately, we were stuck and didn't leave until Saturday. We were rerouted through Orlando, FL and spent the day at the airport. Although it didn't go as we planned, it did give us another 24hrs. to spend together!!)
