4: My name is Nubia, and it means means "from Nubia." While war was going on in my homeland, I was captured and brought to my current residence by the Egyptian military. I work here in a palace as a slave to the their pharaoh. I stay on the palace grounds, which lie in the city of Thebes.

5: My job is to entertain. My fellow slaves and I dance for the pharaoh and play instruments such as harps, pipes, or ivory clappers. We also perform acrobatics, tumbling and jumping around the room amaze the pharaoh, his family and his guests. When we perform, we wear flowing outfits that all look alike. We often eat bread and fruit and drink beer in the palace for breakfast and lunch and at dinner we have meat in addition.

6: If you are a slave who is skilled as an artist, you may shape metals into sculptures for wealthy masters. People mostly choose to purchase slaves with talents, so many slaves also make portraits, and statues.

7: The average house servant will cook, clean, sew, or care for children. | Some slaves work in temples as guards and doormen. The unlucky are sent to the gold and copper mines.
