S: I went to the Land Down Under
FC: I went to the land down Under
After our wonderful nursing experience in Tonga, 5 of us decided to make our way to Fiji and enjoy the Sun for a week. 4 of us continued on to Australia for another week. These are the travels of Whitney, Sarah, Alisha, Laurie, and Amy
our last day together as a Tonga group we spent at the Sheraton in Nadi, Fiji. After wards we got dinner where I drank Fiji water in Fiji :) We visited a colorful Buddhist Temple and enjoyed time in the sun. We stayed at the Bamboo hostel complete with Hammocks and bunkbeds. One day we ventured to a mud hole for good luck. We also enjoyed Sunsets and shopping in town.
we spent 2 blissful days doing day cruises on South Sea Island and Bounty Island
Amy went home, and the 4 of us continued on to Australia. We stayed at the Jackaroo Hostel in King's cross station, later to find out this was the red-light district-a bit ironic for BYU students. We visited the Aquarium, Wildlife world, found Nemo and a kangaroo. There was a lego theme going on for the wildlife world and the sculptures were awesome. Sarah and I did the skywalk on the Sky-tower, we visited the rocks museum, went to Ms. Mcquaries point, went to the light-show all in Sydney
After staying in Sydney for a couple of days we moved on to Mona Vale near Manly and stayed with the family of the local Stake President. They were a very kind family and treated us well. We had many adventures with them including hiking to a lighthouse, and enjoyed Manly as well. We also went to Max Brenner's, king of chocolate treats
While in Manly we got in some valuable time at the beach. It was winter time there, but we still enjoyed the view!
Australia is not that much younger than America, but the Architecture in Sydney is amazing. It reminded me of London We enjoyed taking pictures of the parks, monuments, malls, sidewalks, cathedrals, and even old hospitals. We visited Sydney Hospital and rubbed Il Porcilino, a pig, for good luck. We also went to the top of the Skytower and got some amazing view of the harbor
No trip to Sydney is complete without a tour of the Opera House and Climbing the Harbor Bridge.. I took more pictures of the Opera House than anything else and am amazing by the beauty and genius architecture.
The time came when we had to come home. We spent the last night together in one room, and then Whitney and I packed our bags while the other 2 stayed for more adventures. We flew from Australia to Fiji, then from Fiji to L.A., then from L.A to Salt Lake. After 5 weeks abroad we were so happy to be home in the USA.
