1: Problems Facing the U.S. RIGHT NOW *surplus goods -dangerous: too many wasted natural resources; loss of profits. *lack of Navy ports *little competition in markets *Europe and countries in Asia threaten stability

2: Our Founding Fathers believe the principles of the US were founded on *bringing Lady Liberty around the globe *leading in foreign markets *establishing the strongest, most secure government *expanding through colonies, territories *influence the philosophies of nations

3: Military Advantages *safe harbors *strategic location; Middle of Pacific Ocean *not a barrier, a connecting bridge to a position of dominance *protective base from foreigners *mustn't fall into bad hands i.e. Japan, China, Germany

4: Economic Advantages *surplus production *increase competition *introduce new foreign markets *natural resources for more exports *fresh soil to grow sugar, cotton and tobacco *economic blessings for future generations

5: Morality *god given mission, destiny *introduce pure Anglo Saxon race *bring benefits from all degrees of conduct to the Philippines' people i.e. education, strong federal and local governments, markets from around the world, the English language, extensive military, protection, medicine, housing, jobs, workforce, money, religion, natural rights, the U.S. government

6: Social Darwinism *Anglo Saxons are the fittest racial group *duty to assimilate inferior cultures *our (United States of America) fate is connected to the global community, future *If we do not.. -we'd be betraying the will of God -other nations would think less of us, incapable -Filipino peoples would crumble and die off

7: Take Action! | "The mission of the United States is one of benevolent assimilation!" -President McKinley * make the Philippines an effective colony -grow profitable crops - establish military bases -introduce industry and markets *"Americanize" native peoples *teach English *influence other nations by a leading example *prove that the U.S. government is the most effected in all the world.

8: America In the Future *English will be the official language of the world *American customs would be found in all countries *We will lead as an example *Our market-- strongest, biggest *Control of the neighboring oceans *A beacon of light to inferior races struggling with poverty and war
