S: Ten Days in the Middle East
BC: It was during these ten days in June 2009 that I first fell in love with the Middle East, especially the beautiful country of Jordan. More stunning than the scenery were the hearts and generosity of the people of Jordan. Shookrun! I can not wait to return to this breathtaking country.

After a year of planning and saving, 24 hours of running through 3 airports from terminal to terminal, and 2 nearly-missed connecting flights, I finally arrived in Jordan to begin what would be the trip of my life!
 The Dead Sea
 Dead Sea Mud
The Dead Sea is so salty that we instantly started to float in the water. After playing in the Dead Sea mud and salt water, I have never been so happy to see a shower!
A Day at the Dead Sea | I did NOT stick my finger in the light socket... I used the wrong adapter and melted my curling iron. Hence, the bad hair day!
An Evening at the Dead Sea | We celebrated Lubna and Ziad's 1st Anniversary.
The West Bank from the Dead Sea
The Baptism site at Bethany was a military border zone between Israel and Jordan until the Peace Treaty in 1994. After land mines were cleared along the border, excavation began in 1996. The ecosystem here is so salinous that even the willow trees tasted salty. The actual baptism site of Jesus lies on the Jordan River, with Israel just a few feet across the River.
